thanks for the quick reply colonels1020.... i just did it now as you suggested.... while its still running... i removed the battery... using my thumb fingernail and after 5 sec the tilt the baby and put again the battery.... the reaction was... the battery icon turns from charging then just a few sec... turn again to battery icon with "x" with no battery available...

i have also done done this... turn off the unit... after a few sec... without the magsafe on.. i removed the battery and after a few sec... return it back and immediately press the power and its turn on to the system... then the bat icon turn from full to icon x..... wow this is driving me crazy..

i also try thiss... without the magsafe... remove the battery.... and after a few sec... return the bat back and just a few sec... lock the bat.... then press the power on... without rection from the macbook... it doesnt turn on... wow... and i am months away from going back to the store....

i have done a quick visit to the apple support web site and found this article..

If the computer is on, turn it off.

Disconnect the AC Adapter and remove the computer's battery.

Press and hold down the power button for 5 seconds and then release the button.

Reconnect the battery and AC Adapter.

Press the Power button to restart the computer.

done it and i thought it cures it.... but the x icon battery is back again...

It sounds like you've got a dead battery. Call up Applecare and see if they can send you a replacement battery.

woooh.... colonels1020... this is depressing.... ill just choose my action not to feel depress.... ive called the apple store where i bought the macbook and told them everything, and agreed, this day they will just record my issues and i have to wait till july 30 when i have a scheduled travel in manila for them to replace my battery, for now... ill just be contentent to use the magsafe everytime i boot-up and use the baby.... to save the $200US plane ticket.... hope it will magically return to normal tomorrow..

  • 3 weeks later...

The exact same thing happened to my 15" mbp. It appeared that the battery had died, the battery led on the bottom would blink a couple of times quickly when the button was pressed then go out. An X on the battery meter.

I upgraded my BIOS and it was fixed. Make sure you follow the directions carefully.
