I was trying in vain to get the audio working on my HP DV4-1225dx laptop. It has a IDT High Definition Audio Codec installed in Windows Vista. I tried VodooHDA and Azalia but nothing worked. Then I stumbled upon a file called IDT2.pkg in one the forums on insanelymac. I tried running it but it didnt work. Then I tried something which worked. I formatted my leopard partition and reinstalled leopard from iAtKoS 7 DVD and didnt select any audio driver during installation. Then after loading into Leopard I ran IDT2.pkg and the sound button on my laptop turned from red to white. I restarted and its been working fine till now. I have not tested all the sound inputs and outputs. The internal speaker and internal mic works fine. The only little bug I have is that after a period of time the sound button (mute button) on my laptop turns red but once any sound is played it turns white again.

I am really excited. Going to load all the applications that I can get my hands on and then see if the system is stable.

One more thing for people using this same make of laptop. Using the Broadcom WLAN driver that comes packaged with iATKOS will work but it will not turn blue the WLAN button. I installed iATKOS without the WLAN driver and installed the WLAN driver from iDeneb CD. This driver makes the WLAN button go blue when WLAN is ON.

I hope this helps other people with the same kind of laptop or other laptops with similar sound hardware.

Enjoy

Keep on rocking in the free world

I am going to attach the IDT2.pkg file so that people dont have to go around searching for the right file. I sincerely thank the people who created this file and hope they are not pissed off by me attaching it to my post.

i dont mean to sound like a no0b, but i am lol so i installed iAKTOS v7 without the wireless driver, but when it started up, it still found my wireless network o.0 i just thought it was a generic driver that could be overwritten when installing the broadcom driver from iDeneb 10.5.6 so after restarting and booting from the iDeneb dvd, i only selected the broadcom driver, it installed, it restarted, now i get a DOS msg saying

boot0:MBR

boot0: done

boot1: error_

-__-" anyone know how to fix this without doing a fresh wipe of iAKTOS? this was my only partition so i cant boot into a windows partition... i can install it if its the only way to fix the boot order though... any help would be much appreciated =]

Guys I am really sorry for not replying to some of you people. I was not checking up with this site much until a few days back when I felt like I should get myself a netbook and install only OS X on it.

Well about how I installed OS X on my HP DV4-1225dx. Firstly I booted using iATKOS v 7 and installed Leopard on a partition which I had created using my windows diskpart utility. Formatted the partition as Mac Os Journaled using disk utility inside the Mac OS installer. Then selected the partition which I had named Leopard for installation and then clicked on Options and selected Kernel 9.5.0 by Qoopz (hope I spelled it right), selected ATI HD under Drivers>Display>ATI, selected PS2 drivers with trackpad (dont remember which one). I did not select any Audio or wireless drivers. Completed the installation process. Rebooted to Mac OS Leopard which I had just installed and went through a lot of form filling and clicks until I reached my desktop. Here I installed the IDT.pkg file which I had previously attached. Then I rebooted and used the iDeneb v1.6 Lite 10.5.8 DVD which I had downloaded and in the Mac OS installer selected my Leopard partition and clicked Options and deselected everything except in Drivers>Network>Wireless>Broadcom I selected Broadcom Wifi. At this stage be sure to UNCHECK the clean up tag in the last. Then after finishing when I reboot, I have sound working and wifi working perfectly. The only minor problems are that I am unsure about sleep and hibernation and that the touchpad does not support tapping and it is too sensitive but I have got a lil used to it. The biggest problem which actually made me give up on Mac OS on this laptop is that QE/CI do not work. I cannot use photo booth and any graphic intensive app.

So thats it guys. I hope whatever little information and experience that I have had with OSx86, I have shared with you guys. I am sorry if any inconvenience is caused to anyone because of any error in my reporting of my experience.

Take care and have a nice time. Mac OS is simply great. It is damn smooth and very fast as compared to Windows Vista or even Windows 7. But I guess the best way to enjoy it is to spend enough money to get your hands on a Mac. Or maybe buy a machine which is totally compatible. I am gonna try my luck with MSI Wind U123 which should be delivered to me in 2 days. I will try to share my experience on the same on this forum or on the insanelywind forum.
