Hi guys!

I am having serious issues trying to get Snow Leopard installed on a single HD (no previous OSx86 installs or other OSes). I am using the SnowOSX Universal distro and following this guide.

On step 9 the guide says:

"Now to fix this kernel Panic, you need to get the driver (KEXT) patch in place. Download it here (2 zipped files, extract both of them). Either copy this patch to USB drive and copy to your drive or alternatively you can boot into Windows (using Windows Start-up repair from windows installation disc) and installing MacDrive 8 to read/write Mac drives on Windows.

Note: It is preferable that you do this via USB. Attempt the Windows method ONLY if USB doesn’t work for you. Boot into setup again and instead of installing, open terminal and write these commands"

By USB:

cd /Volumes/PenDriveName/FolderWhereYouKextsArePresent

cp -R * /Volumes/SnowFX/System/Library/Extensions/

diskutil repairPermissions /Volumes/SnowFX/System/Library/Extensions

Now, upon entering this Terminal reports the error "Ownership of the affected disk is required". Anybody got any bright ideas?

This is exactly what I enter:

cd /Volumes/Corsair (the files I need are just on the stick in no subfolder so presumably I don't need a / at the end?)

cp -R * /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions/

diskutil repairPermissions /Volumes/Macintosh/System/Library/Extensions

This is exactly the error I get back:

Usage = diskutil verifyPermissions [-plist] MountPoint|DiskIndentifier|DeviceNode

diskutil repairPermissions [-plist] MountPoint|DiskIndentifier|DeviceNode

verify or repair the permissions of a Mac OS X boot volume

Ownership of the affected disk is required

Example: diskutil verifyPermissions /

I want to get this all working because my current 2006 Mac Pro is having difficulty with Logic 9 Pro and all the DSP it needs to run. I want to try Hackintosh to see if an increase in power (I run a watercooled gaming PC) can increase Logic's performance or if it's driver issues. If the performance does increase obviously I'll have to buy a 2009 Mac Pro as I use Logic professionally and can't get by on a hack :D

Cheers in advance for any replies!

Tom
