corsairrowell
Hello all! I've been working on installing the iPC 10.5.6 distro of OSX86 on my Dell Inspiron 6400. After Several wipes and reinstalls, I've managed to get it almost totally working, both stable and fast! I am using the Voodoo kernel. The only issue is that the display only has a 4:3 image in the center of it that does not take up the entire screen. The only option in System preferences is for 1024x768, which is too low for my display to be filled, plus is the wrong aspect ratio. I have installed kexts from ATIKexts.zip, which was attached on a post in this site, although I cannot find that post right now. This contained the kexts ATIRadeonX1000.kext and RadeonHD.kext. I inserted my device ids (Ven:1002 Dev:7149) into ATIRadeonX1000.kext. After enabling these kexts and rebooting, the computer would start, after several seconds of the Apple logo it would then resize to fit the entire screen. Then, after that, the screen would turn black with white areas where the menu bar and dock would be, and colorful swigly lines in any windows/apps that would open on start (finder, and photo capture). Only the outline of anything was visible. I then booted into safe mode, removed the kexts, and everything was back to normal (with 4:3 display). So, does anyone have a solution for this? It's encouraging that the kexts do actually enlarge the display to fill entire screen, a move in the right direction, but it is discouraging that the cause all the odd artifacts. Any recommended kexts? Thanks! UPDATE: I installed another kext and now the screen is completely black after the Apple loading screen. This happens with and without the "-x" boot option. How can I start up OSX without the kext so I can remove them? UPDATE 2: I found the files/guide I was using that gave me artifacts. ---->http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=192792 Also, reinstalled OSX, got it back to point I was at originally at. Also, here's a pic of what I'm talking about, caused by the kexts from the link.
