Show_Me_The_Rage
Hey guys, Now this is my first ever hackintosh, so sorry if im not too familiar with terms and what not, i will learn. I'll start off with specs: Core 2 duo e8200 (2.66ghz 6mb cache) Gigabyte GA-EP43-UD3l Motherboard XFX ATI Radeon 4850 (xxx overclocked) edition 500gb Hitachi Deskstar harddrive SATA + 30gb Samsung Harddrive ATA 4gb Kingston Hyper x ram ddr2 800 I've been wanting to install OS X on my computer for a while, and finally i found an old 30gb harddrive i'd like to install it on. Now, as for Software i've got a copy of Snow Leopard burnt to a dvd. I've also got a USB drive from the Lifehacker post (see http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...cking-required) because the motherboards are kind of similar. (Little did i know, they should be exactly similar) I've also got a copy of iDeneb 10.5.5 that i'm trying to install, either the SL or this, whatever works best. So, im kind of lost what i do. I grabed my USB drive via the lifehacker post, and plugged it in, and my i got a screen called "Restart your computer" bla bla bla. a Kernel Panic if im right. My iDeneb wouldn't work on my 500gb harddrive, but i figure i should just have seperate harddrives for this, so im installing iDeneb on my 30gb drive as i type this. I can use my sisters Macbook later if i need to do some configuration to the install image. I'm not too sure how Kernels and kexts work. all i know is that kexts= basically drivers. You think you guys could help me out? Even if you refer me to a diffrent post and give me instructions on how to use various posts, i'd really appreciate it. Im lost at this moment. lol. thanks guys. will1384
do you think i can just install without a graphics kext? or is it required? With my 4850, all I ever got was a blank screen, odd shapes, or lines, no matter what tried, I never could have installed any kexts, plus I was doing a Vanilla install, using the retail DVD If your able to ever see the OS X desktop, that's a different problem, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/203104-help-with-ati-4850-ep43-ud3l-mobo/#findComment-1364353 Share on other sites
