herto7
hello! first moment in my new hackintosh! installed succesfuuly the 10.5.6 ipc ppf 5 version, with audio and lan both working! my graphic card is gma 3100 (not the m version..) and i want to change the resolution by chaning the system file but the system wont let me because i dont have priviliege, although i logged as an admin. any help on that? and another question.. if i dont press cpus=1 and the boot the system just hangs up and restart the computer. does this means that now im using only one core? last one i have a 500GB thats now have 1 partion of 250GB for the mac and the other is just free space. if i will mount that freespace to a partion and install windows on that partion, will i have a menu to choose which partion to boot? or should i do something for that? thanks in advance for any help... my specs: Mother Board: MS-7383 Graph: Intel GMA3100 Audio: Intel high def lan: realtek something hdd:500 gb hitachi ram: 4gb 400mhz herto7 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/202447-priviliege-prob-trying-to-edit-a-system-file/ Share on other sites
Lord_Jeremy
First question: Generally when that happens you have to drag the file to the desktop, then edit it, then put it back. When you drag it to and from the folder, you'll be asked to type your administrator password. If you want a more straightforward way, do Get Info on the file and the folder it's in and change the permissions. Be sure to change them back to what they were when you're done! Second: Yeah that means you're only using one core. What type of processor and motherboard do you have? Are you using a Voodoo kernel? Installing the Voodoo kernel may help. Third: That depends on what bootloader you've got. Also, installing windows will probably wipe out whatever in the MBR is pointing to your OS X installation. You'd have to use a program like EasyBCD to re-enter the info for OS X into the boot record.
