I seem to be having the same problem as the OP, the bootscreen shows up, but the leaf on the apple is replaced by a buster. I tried the -v thing, and it said something about my ethernet (I think), so I disabled it in the bios. Still won't boot up though. I'll post my exact error messages in a little while.

  • 3 weeks later...

Boot off the the dvd and get into the installer

Under the Utilities options, select terminal

soon as you open the terminal you will be at a command prompt.

type the following.

cp^/mach_kernel^/Volumes/DISK0s2

fyi - ^=space

PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU INSTALLED THE PATCHES DURING THE INSTALLATION.

This command basically copies mach_kernel off the dvd and onto your os x partition. The dvd mount point just a / and the mount point and volume name for my osx partition is /volume/disk0s2. If you dont know your osx partition voluem name go to Disk Utilities and right click on any device listed and click on information and itll tell you the mount point. and just taylor the cp command to fit your setup. Hope this helps.
