kagaku Posted December 6, 2009 Share Posted December 6, 2009 Ever since updating to 10.6.2 a week ago I've been getting reproducible crashes in some apps. In Google Chrome the application crashes when I download certain files (larger than a few kb but smaller than a few mb), same thing occurs in Safari - however I can download just fine using Firefox and wget. Adobe Photoshop crashes when I attempt to create a new file or open an existing one. Pixelmator crashes on load. So far that's all I've noticed, everything else seems to be working fine. OS: 10.6.2 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.13ghz RAM: 6gb HDD: SATA MB: MSI P6N SLI Platinum GPU: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb If there is anything else I can post (besides a crash log, which you can find here: http://lanmine.cc/etcetera/crashlog.txt ), let me know. This has been a rather annoying problem and I'd love to be rid of it. One thing of note, I'm downloading the 10.6.2 combo updater and am going to attempt to reapply it tomorrow (slow download link, only 100mb done thus far) - with any luck that will solve my issues. Chrome seems to crash my entire box with a Mac BSOD. Stop using it, machine is rock solid. Run it, within an hour the entire box will die. I have the exact same hardware build on a second machine and it does not happen on that box. jerryn Posted March 28, 2010 Share Posted March 28, 2010 It may not be your update... what kernel extensions are you using. I'm running a Q6600 quad core, 10.6.2 and LUCKILY it's been very stable. I run chrome, itunes, iMovie, iPhoto, NeoOffice, handbrake, virtual box for my linux and windows operating system. Carbon copy cloner for DR. Check your system logs, maybe there will be a hint to what's going on there. Next time an application crashed, click on report, save the report to a while and post it in this thread.
