  1. I installed 10.9 (and upgraded to 10.9.1) a few days ago and have been noticing some odd slowness when browsing folders. For example, if I save a file from Chrome and click on the dropdown to select another folder, it takes about 5-10 seconds for the dropdown to actually appear. The application locks up during this time (spinning beachball of doom). This happens in regular Finder windows as well. It happens across all drives as well, not just the boot drive. This behavior is also occurring in the terminal (just doing an "ls" of a folder.. it locks up for a few seconds then finally displays). Specs: Mobo: Asus P8Z68-V PRO/GEN3 CPU: Intel Core i5 2500k RAM: 8GB Video: AMD Radeon 7950 3GB Boot drive: 50gb SSD on Intel SATA controller (HFS+) Other drives: A 120gb SSD and various hard drives on Intel and JMicron SATA controllers (all of these are NTFS) Booting with Chameleon using: EthernetBuiltIn: Yes Graphics Mode: 1024x768x32 GraphicsEnabler: Yes Kernel: mach_kernel UserKernelCache: Yes And I have the following kext in my Extras folder: AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext FakeSMC.kext IOAHCIBlockStorage.kext lspcidrv.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext Patched_10.7_AppleRTC.kext Everything works fine and aside from the lag, I'm not seeing any problems in disk speed or access speed. There are no console messages when the lag occurs either, unfortunately. Can anyone help?
  2. Random Crashes since 10.6.2

I'm not entirely sure why, but installing the 10.6.2 combo update seemed to fix the problem. All apps work perfectly now.
  3. Ever since updating to 10.6.2 a week ago I've been getting reproducible crashes in some apps. In Google Chrome the application crashes when I download certain files (larger than a few kb but smaller than a few mb), same thing occurs in Safari - however I can download just fine using Firefox and wget. Adobe Photoshop crashes when I attempt to create a new file or open an existing one. Pixelmator crashes on load. So far that's all I've noticed, everything else seems to be working fine. OS: 10.6.2 CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.13ghz RAM: 6gb HDD: SATA MB: MSI P6N SLI Platinum GPU: nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb If there is anything else I can post (besides a crash log, which you can find here: http://lanmine.cc/etcetera/crashlog.txt ), let me know. This has been a rather annoying problem and I'd love to be rid of it. One thing of note, I'm downloading the 10.6.2 combo updater and am going to attempt to reapply it tomorrow (slow download link, only 100mb done thus far) - with any luck that will solve my issues.
  4. After recently upgrading to 10.6.2 and then having to upgrade my VoodooHDA kext, I also noticed the AppleHDA and HDAenabler kexts in my /sys/lib/ext folder; I removed them without issue as I did not want to chance any sort of conflict. My question is regarding the other ~150-200 drivers in that folder, many that are obviously not used for my system (anything ATI or Intel GMA) - however I am curious as to whether or not they're using any resources? My first guess would be no, they're not being loaded and therefore not using any resources; however does the system look at these drivers at any point during the boot to determine it's not using them? Just a curiosity.
  5. Odd problem that I never had before (had a Leopard install on here that worked fine). When I boot into OS X 10.6.1 the time will be correct - for instance consider that it's 10am. When I reboot and boot in to my Windows partition, Windows displays my time as +7 hours, so my 10am example in OS X above shows up as 5pm in Windows XP. Any idea what's going on? BIOS time reports the same as what Mac OS X shows, and when I boot back into OS X the time is correct - even if I manually fix it in Windows. My timezone is identical in both operating systems (CST) as well as DST settings.
  6. PCIe LAN Recommendation

Are there any recommended gigabit PCIe ethernet cards? Preferably something that works either out of the box, or works well with community/manufacturer drivers. I've got onboard nForce (that KPs constantly, no matter the driver) and a PCI 100mbit card that loses connection after a large transfer, until reboot. I'd love to get something more reliable.
  7. I'm having the same exact issue as NAXDON, freezes at that exact screen. MSI P6N SLI Platinum (2.61 BIOS) 2gb RAM nVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 320mb 80gig IDE drive Booting the DVD on an IDE DVD drive
  8. iWork '08

Numbers is a bit of a let down for me personally.. I understand that it's the first version and all, but the compatibility between it and Office just isn't up to par with what I'd expect. Unfortunately for me I'll never be able to really put it to good use, as much as I'd love to. I'm stuck waiting for Office '08 to come out next year. Most of the stuff I'm working with are multi-sheet documents filled with macros and formulas, and while the formulas seem to convert fine most of the other stuff doesn't seem to convert 100%. Oh well, maybe compatibility will be better next version, until then I'll stick with Office 2007 in Parallels. =)
  9. no dial up modem support in 9a466?

So far it's working perfect for me. Just did a chmod +s on Internet Connect.app and all has been well. I'll report back if I've got any more issues.
  10. no dial up modem support in 9a466?

I've been having a lot of difficulty as well, though mine at least works with some effort. I'm using a Motorola RAZR v3xx as a modem via USB or Bluetooth (HSDPA, yay!) and it works fine the first time I set it up, but to set it up I need to add the connection in Network settings, then goto Internet Connect.app and change the modem script to the appropriate one (the modem script setting in Network prefs seems to have no effect). Once I do that I can connect just fine. But.. After I unplug the phone from my macbook the settings no longer work. When I plug the phone back in and click Connect, it tells me it can't find the device. Every time I plug the phone in I need to reinstall the phone, basically. It works, but definitely not an ideal solution. It seems this build of Leopard is smack dab in the middle of a network/dial up networking overhaul. Seems to be for the best though, I'm loving the new interface.
  11. Enter path manually?

Perfect. I've been looking for something like that since I started using OSX. thanks!
  12. Add searchsites to the Safari searchbar

Is there any way to search from the safari address bar? I know it sounds like an odd request, but sometimes i find myself typing search requests into the address bar on accident.
  13. Cog OSX

The author of Cog has been releasing Universal Binary versions of Cog for the last couple of weeks. You can download 'em on the Cog homepage: http://cogosx.sf.net

  15. skiTunes x86 binary

Way to unstable for any real usable, in my experience. It seems to crash when I try to do anything other than play music. I tried authorizing it to play purchased iTunes songs, and it gets to the point in iTunes where I click 'Authorize', at that point skiTunes crashes. When I try to resize the main window, the program crashed. When I try to close the program, it crashes. I guess it needs a bit more work. Thanks for the port though!
