I have the same mobo (Gigabyte P55-UD3R), and VoodooHDA didn't work for me either. However, after a long search process, I found Taruga's audio drivers for Realtek ALC88x. I've attached the drivers that ended up working for me. Let me know if they don't work for you.

 

Installation:

 

1.) Download the attached ZIP file

2.) Extract the two .kext's

3.) Open Kext Helper B7

4.) Drag AppleHDA.kext and HDAEnabler.kext into the Kext Helper B7 window

5.) Enter your password

6.) Click Easy Install

7.) Open Disk Utility (Use Spotlight to search for it)

8.) Select your (Snow) Leopard partition on the left

9.) Click Repair Disk Permissions

10.) Once permissions have been repaired, reboot and you should now have working audio!
