After two months of toggling settings and messing around with bios options to try to get OS X to run, i FINALLY figured out how to get it to run on my Toshiba Qosmio G35-AV600. The settings include:

*Changing Power management to "user setting" and setting processing speed to LOW and CPU sleep mode to DISABLED

*Changing CPU speed from "Dynamically Switchable" to "ALWAYS LOW"

*Changing Execute-Disable Bit to DISABLED

*Changing Device Configuration from "Setup by OS" to "All Devices"

Question: Are there any patches that would enable me to change these settings back to default to work with OS X? I always get Local APIC errors which are all probably processor-based because the settings i have to change are mostly processor settings. Any clues?

Thanks - this helped me get 10.4.6 installed on a Toshiba Satellite U205 without the "local APIC error" kernel panic (although NIC, audio, and WiFi are not recognized.)

Here are the BIOS settings I used (In the Wiki, the "Device Config. = All Devices" setting seems to be a common theme for success):

Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode = Always Low

Execute-Disable Bit Capability = Available

Device Config. = All Devices

All other BIOS settings were left at default.

I've installed the OS X 10.4.6 on Toshiba Satellite M70-190 with such an options.

If I set Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode to Dynamic, OS X hangs on the first blue screen.

If I set Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode to Always Low it boots, with -x -v options, but works to slow

Is there any workaround for this ?

If I set Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode to Dynamic, OS X hangs on the first blue screen.

If I set Dynamic CPU Frequency Mode to Always Low it boots, with -x -v options, but works to slow

For the blue screen, have you tried attaching something to the VGA port - a monitor, a VGA dongle, the 2-wire trick ( http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?ac...ost&id=1522 ) or the 1-wire trick ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/uploads/post-...-1160846022.gif ).

Booting with -v just turns on verbose mode so you can see what messages are generated during the boot. Booting with -x puts you in safe mode which has disabled many features of the OS to allow you to boot and troubleshoot. You don't want to run in safe mode on a regular basis.

I've tried 10.4.7 and 10.4.8 : Same problem with my Toshiba U-200 163 laptop (Core Duo T2300E, Intel 945GM Express chipset , 3945ABG wifi network, sata HD).... always B0 error!!

I find it very strange because I've got exactely the same problem if I try to install some LINUX distributions on my laptop. For instance, I have to enter the same lower bios settings (core solo, cpu down...) to install Mandriva or other derivatives. Nothing but Debian GNU/Linux platforms are fully working with my laptop (Ubuntu is 100% compatible)

Any ideas ?

Hi james2mart,

Somehow i managed to get both cores working at full speed.. look here maybe it helps:

Hi,

I have a Toshiba U205-5002 and managed to have the two cores working with uphuck's 10.4.9 1.4i (before this I was forced to use only 1 core with JaS 10.4.6). It's "almost" flawless (I have to set low speed in bios, and so on). But there's still one thing that makes my computer unstable, since it randomly freezes the computer after some time, 1 minute, or 2 hours (though it freezes without the grey message). Completely frozen from time to time!.

Anyone has any idea of how I could check what caused the halt?

Thanks in advance!.

@Henryk

hey, ur laptop are same as mine. thank's to james2mart firstly. b4 i can't even get into installation menu. and now, 3 os on my laptop (xp, ubuntu, uphuck 10.4.9 v1.4i r2 mac os x).

previously i have to set my bios setting as above with my previous factory BIOS version 1.10 b4 i can work at mac. recently i managed to upgrade my BIOS to current 3.70 and what i've got? i can boot into mac with default BIOS setup without have to reset BIOS as above. except Device Configuration still use "All Devices" option.

what i've done:

- update my BIOS to newer version 3.50 and now 3.70.

- boot ONLY with battery power untill successfully boot into mac than i can plug the ac adapter. unless? yup, kernel panic when i boot with ac adapter plug in.

- set to never sleep on Energy Saver in System Preferences for both setting Power Adapter and Battery.

- i can work at mac all day long without get any freeze/hang. i like listening music n watch movie wirelessly with A2DP n AVRCP on my tiger (using softhick audio gateway) since audio jack doesn't work. still waiting for fix and intel 3945a/b/g wireless driver.

hope it work.
