zimmoframe
I am running on a Dell INspiron 1300, and the onboard sigmatel audio is not supported, which was the only thing that isn't supported in 10.4.6 on my laptop, so I bought a cheap USB soundcxard off of eBay. I did a clean install (installing all patches on JaS 10.4.6 DVD), then inserted the card before boot. I booted into OSX and it worked like a charm, and I'm reveling in it. (It's worthy of mention that the sound card's LED flashes when sound is coming out of it, and is solidly on when there is no sound.) Then, I do software update, and have to reboot. Not a problem, I thought. I reboot, and the sound card's LED is on solidly, but no sound works now, and there's no flashing LED. I go to Audio MIDI setup and it's detected. I fiddle with the settings for a bit, and still no luck. I watch videos, listen (or try to) to mp3s and listen to flash audio on the web but nothing. I then do a clean reinstall, but everything happens again. Here's a picture of the card. Anyone else got the same one? I'd love to get this working. niteman1969
Try re-installing the soundblaster usb audio package from Jas 10.4.6 dvd this enabled my c-media headset to work perfectly. skredii
Hello, I'm using the same usb sound device as you. The issue I have is when I reboot, I loose sound. To get sound back, I have to put the volume slider to lower then to higher. And then sound is back! Hope this helps... Also if there is a better workaround, please let me know Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20052-c-media-usb-soundcard/#findComment-131990 Share on other sites
mcdull
I am using 10.4.5... no problem at all... but what I get is bad sound quality (well, resonable for a <$10 USB sound card) and therefore I didn't use it alot. (My laptop only has speaker out but no lineout and mic in when using OSX) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20052-c-media-usb-soundcard/#findComment-135024 Share on other sites
skredii
I'm getting better and higher volume sound from this USB dongle than from my sigmatel built-in sound card.
