Hi there,

if u ve installed the Windows VIStA OS as the Operating System, u might be noticing certain changes in the boot loader.

but if Windows VISTA is ur primary Operating System, the u have the option of adding the new OS via BCD (Boot Configuration Data) as boot.ini is missing in Vista.

My problem is somewhat similar.

i ve installed the Windows VISTA operating system on my primary partition.

now i want to instal Windows XP x64 edition in the next partition.

But when i install, the installation goes smooth until the first reboot and then no response from the system and nothing is loaded after the BIOS POST screen and it stalls there.

This can be resolved by recovering the BCD from the install DVD of Windows Vista.

But the main problem is that i want to add the entry for Windows XP x64 edition..

i cant found any way to add it !!!

has any1 ???

Similar experiences?? anyone??

As with any install of windows xp / 2000 the last installed version is the one

that gets marked active and boots.

If you want to dual boot xp64 and vista and still use the vista boot manager

then you should install xp64 then vista.

Otherwise you will need to manually set the vista partition as the active boot

boot drive.

thanx for the info ..

but then whats the way to add entries into the BCD , and whats they way to add Windows XP x64 entry, and the boot loader is removed after first reboot of Windows XP x64 install and i cant see any way to continue the setup after the first reboot of Windows XP x64 installation.

Also the reason to use Windows XP x64 as secondary OS is that i only have a few development to work to do in Windows XP x64 and i ve dedicated Windows VISTA for my entertainment purpose like playin games, etc hence the partition is quite big and this time i cant afford to repartition my hard disk drive..
