cnunez1987
Hey, everyone! I was able to successfully install Mac OS X Snow Leopard on my Dell Latitude E6500 by following ntyonline's excellent tutorial (it's here somewhere; sorry I didn't link to it). All works well, but my DVD-ROM drive keeps getting accessed every 20 or 30 seconds. It happens like clockwork, and while it certainly isn't a major problem (it works just fine and burns with no issues), I imagine that it takes a bit of a toll on battery life. Is this normal, and if not, is there a fix? Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/200371-why-is-my-dvd-drive-accessed-so-often/ Share on other sites
dacheat
My desktop install (Asus P6T) used to do that before I had all of the AHCI (or PATA) kext's sorted out. Seemed like the OS was polling my hardware and this only stopped when the correct kernel extensions were used or I set my hard drives to IDE/Compatible vs SATA.
