rukez
I've installed tiger (10.4.11 build by XxX) on rather old pc (iCeleronD 2.53, 512+256 RAM, Gigabyte IPE1000 on 865PE, PATA hdd and dvd, AGP Radeon 9600PRO, 3COM 905-TX) - everything is just wonderful, tiger runs on this pc even faster than snow_leo on my mb466 (expanded to 4GB ram) BUT there is one big problem - it is video card. I was able to start video card in every possible way: - resolution via Callistro (008) - QE/CI via fixing 9700GA file - agp via agpgart 1.2 (2.2 broke screen into thousands of stripes, 1.1 don't work) - mouse flickering via mighty mouse and cursor scheme without shadow. Everything seems to work BUT i get bugs all around - in Pages i don't see document content (only white sheet), in QuickTime video start to loose frames as long as cursor is above window with video ( = fullscreen video in unusable), if i start to move window or scroll webpage it seems very slow, but again, only while mouse cursor is above moving/scrolling object. Also i get very poor speed in expose (while showing all windows or selecting one of them - animation is veeery slow) So my perfect tiger is ill with video card Looks like radeon 9600 can't work "perfectly" (at least google didn't find any answer - if there is one, i'll be very glad to hear it), so i decided to change it to something else. So what do i need from video card: - AGP (IPE1000 doesn't have any PCIE and classic PCI cards are rare here) card - Dual display support (dual VGA is ok) for connecting monitor and video projector. - QE/CI with adequate speed for gui and expose No gaming is required Passive cooling is a great plus Does "perfect card", that doesn't require any injections/3rd party kexts(looks like agpgart will be needed in any way)/plists modifications, exists ? (not "mac editions" certainly ) P.S. 10.4.11, not 10.5 or 10.6 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/200174-what-agp-card-is-better-supported-in-10411/ Share on other sites
