Hey guys,

I'm trying to install Snow Lepoard (10.6.2).

I'm currently using Empire EFI and Snow Leopard Universal v3.6. I receive a kernel panic about 10 seconds after I try to run the installer.

My setup is:

  • ASUS P7P55D (Motherboard)
  • Intel i5 750 (CPU)
  • Kingston 1600MHz (RAM)

It says it's something to do with the AppleACPIPlatform kext (if I'm reading the back trace correctly).

I've tried a number of things to solve this. I've set the SATA ports to AHCI. maxmem=4098, -v, -x, -f, busratio=20, cpus=1 and combinations. I've put the DVD drive in SATA port 1 (there is no 0).

Here's a photo of the kernel panic (apologies for the poor quality).

Thanks

Sam

Ah, I never knew that. I found out how to just boot from the leopard DVD and I still get the same errors. Could it be that the kernel is wrong?

I get the same results when trying to install snow leopard off a USB stick with myhack.

Any ideas?

I'm not sure if I have it with "Delta Patch"; I imagine I don't.

I get a very similar error if I boot straight from the DVD. I think the output is slightly different, but I still get a backtrace and kernel panic from ACPI kext.

You do know, that the Snow Leopard Universal v3.6 Install DVD is based on Leopard and not Snow Leopard? You are trying to boot a Leopard Hack DVD with a Snow Leopard Hook CD.

Not sure what does this mean as I 'm very new to this, but I used Universal 3.6 to install SL on my HP 6730b laptop and it works so fine in both 32 and 64 bit modes. The only missing thing is the WiFi (Intel PRO/5100 AGN Shiloh).

Hi,

I'm trying to install Snow Leopard Universal V3.6 on my PC (Intel Quad Core Q6600), but after installation, at first reboot I obtain a graphical screen with a messace that suggest/force me to press my power button to switch off the machine.

My machine is based on:

Mainboard Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3P V1.0

CPU Intel Q6600

DDR2 6 GByte

3 HD SATA with set AHCI in native mode

1 DVD LG SATA

1 DVD LG IDE

Nvidia 8600GT 512Mbyte

USB Keyboard Original Mac (Clear Plastic Version)

USB Mouse Logitech

Monitor DELL 21" 1680x1050

I have installed OSX on 3-th HD Hitahchi 320Gb with only 1 partiton formatted Mac OS Extentded (Journaled) GUID

To install I used the trick of changing the boot order of HD(by BIOS), so that the Hitachi was the first and the HD with Vista64 were the last.

NOTE: After some Reboot I have recived a message about a problem on Checksum on my Bios configuration...I had to recreate my BIOS configuration...

Può aiutarmi qualcuno?? Mi sembra strano che l'installazione si terminata con successo, ma che poi osx non funzioni costringendomi subito allo spegnimento del PC.

Thanks,

Daril

Remove DSDT.aml from your current installer and remove certain kexts from your extra folder which might cause it to panic, i removed appleintelpixxata or something like that and all went well interms of booting after that

Hello, I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.2 Universal too, and I get the same starting error. I found that adding a flag calling "arch=i386" in the  com.apple.Boot.plist  file with the terminal fixed for me. In my case I edit the file from windows because I don't know how to do it in the terminal, so I use Macdrive in windows to see the mac hd partitions, search the file in the mac partition, adding extension  txt, add flag and erase the extension and restarting from snow leopard voila, it works.

Updating, after installing Chameleon RC4 you can erase the arch=i386.
