EverestDreams
I have a GA-EP45-UD3P board with a quad core intel 2.83 processor. I have 8 gigs of memory and currently have an ATI 4870 graphics card. I used the Lifehacker install guide with the V2 installer and had no problems installing Snow Leopard. I then used the Stella Installer V3 to help get the 10.6.2 update installed and again had no problems. Then yesterday, out of the blue, it seems that my mouse has a severe lag problem. I runs then seems like it freezes but then jumps. I thought it might be the memory, so I ran memtest86 for 10 passes and come up with no errors. I thought it might be the ATI 4870, so I switched it with a spare 4870 I have and same issue. I have a separate install of Win 7 and everything runs perfectly in it. So I got to thinking it was the graphics card drivers, however I can still play HD movies and any other video without any problems. Any ideas on what it possibly could be? It is driving me crazy. * I never had to do anything else besides the basic vanilla install and use of the Stella Installer. I never added or changed any ktexts on my own, everything just worked...until yesterday. bbeepp
...Any ideas on what it possibly could be? It is driving me crazy. ... Plug your ATI to your LCD DVI port and the problem should be gone. I have the same issue when my 4870 is plugged to my LCD DVI port. It's a common problem even with original MACs since Leopard 10.5.6 :/ Topic on macrumors forum Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199773-4870-snow-leopard-mouse-lag-ga-ep45-ud3p/#findComment-1344853 Share on other sites

never77
Is there any one who have solved this problem? I don't want to use the VGA solution, the DVI port gives much better image quality., by the way using a 24" display, this might have something to do whit it,.. I thing the ATI card is the cause and really need some tips to get it working properly., Any ides? DougDehr
Everest, I am brand new to the hackintosh scene (well, not brand new, i hackintoshed my mini 10v), but came across your post. I have the same video card as you and was wondering if you could point me in the direction of the tutorials you used to install your osx. (I am planning on getting that mobo and cpu as well). it seems rather straightforward but id like to do my research first before i go buying parts. thanks! bbeepp
Are you saying to unplug the DVI cable from the DVI Port...and plug it back in? ups...seems I'd made a mistake....what I meant is to use VGA port of your LCD or buy another LCD brand. It seems certain LCD's doesn't work properly with ATI 4870 on OSX. BingoBongo
Hi to all, finally I am very happy to know, that this problem was/ist made by the ATI drivers. I really was trying to get it fixed for more than 1 month and became nearly crazy, because I couldn't find anything about this issue on this forum or google with my ATI HD 4890. But today I found this topic and now I am driving the card with a DVI2VGA adapter on the VGA-port of my FujitsuSiemens Scaloview H-19 TFT without Lag. The quality is fair for just Internet and Movie. But I do graphical design and therefor the quality is not acceptable. so if anyone knows a solution, please, please, please let me know. I also hope for a fix in the next coming SL update(10.6.3). I heard apple is doing a lot with ATI cards in that update, so I hope this issue is gone with the next update. But maybe someone knows a solution now. zefiend
I'm experiencing this too. If I remove ATIRadeonX2000.kext the mouse returns to normal but I'm stuck with 1600x1200 res instead of the native 1920x1200 of my monitor.
