e92
I've managed to install iAtkos v7 by using cpus=1. The problem I'm having is that sometimes it would get stuck on the gray apple screen without the pinwheel indicator. This is also the same thing that happened in the Kalyway 10.5.2 install. Sometimes I'm able to boot successfully and other times it would get stuck. specs: Gateway NV5409 notebook Intel Pentium Dual-Core 2.0GHz 4GB ram 250GB HDD (60GB partitioned for OSX-rest is for windows 7) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199561-sometimes-stuck-on-gray-apple-screen/ Share on other sites

e92
it seems to be fine right now. but I noticed a different problem. after I set the time, it would reset after I reboot into windows 7 or osx. When I set the time for OSX, the time gets reset for windows. Same goes for setting the clock on windows, and the time resets in osx. i'm also using the windows bootloader which when I select osx, it would load Chameleon 2. i would prefer if it would only load chameleon and allow me to boot from that instead of going through 2 processes. another thing with the gray screen. is it because i didnt install any of the voodoo kernels? would that help? would i have to do a clean install again? i'd say it would boot about 90% of the time. Lot of questions, am sure most have been answered in the forum already. If I looked up the specs for a Gateway NV5409 notebook, I would find out what chipsets for everything was, but if you provided them it would be a lot easier Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199561-sometimes-stuck-on-gray-apple-screen/#findComment-1342791 Share on other sites
e92
the full specs. most likely overkill! e92
the verbose mode goes by pretty fast. i'll see if i can snap a pic. most important thing i want to fix is the gray screen. how do i fix it so it'll constantly boot? if it doesn't boot, i would have to remove the battery, pop it back in, (can't be good for the laptop) then power it back on and pray it'll boot. If you boot verbose every time, the times that you would get a grey screen, the text will stop & the last line will give you a clue of what the problem is. Or has it ever gone through all the text & then to grey screen. pdave54
The ""waiting for boot volume UUID ********* """ is to do with the system not being able to find the boot disk ( i think), although the drive must be found to get that far, If you do a search for that fault you will find something. Strange it only happens some of the time. Might be time for a clean install Might even be that your Hard drive is on the blink., do you have another hard drive, internal or external Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199561-sometimes-stuck-on-gray-apple-screen/#findComment-1344329 Share on other sites
e92
is it supposed to say on the bottom extension "com.apple.driver.AppleACPIPlatform" has immediate dependencies...use only one style 3 times in a row??? i think i remember seeing this in the extension folder. it's not a good idea to use this file for hackintoshes? AppleIntelCPUManagement.kext waiting for boot volume UUID duplicate id? i didn't get the last part when they said to rebless the volume. http://patternbuffer.wordpress.com/2008/03...uplicate-uuids/ i doubt it's the harddrive since the laptop is brand new (ok, it's only 3 months old.) one thing i did remember seeing in the logs were Printer errors. i didnt install any printer kernels or kexts. Lord_Jeremy
Ahah! I think I've got virtually the exact same problem as you. I've got iAtkos v7 on a Gateway FX7024 and on occasion, it will take an especially long time to boot, hanging on those last couple startup messages. I think it has to do with the SATA controller not being fully supported. Since we both have Gateways it may stand to reason that they've got similar hardware, perhaps even the same controller. I've searched far and wide (lots of Googling) for a solution to this problem, yet have had no luck. I guess I've learned to live with it. When it does happen, I just hold down the power button to turn it off then turn it back on. Only once did it happen twice in a row, out of the countless times I've booted. Oh I do plan to upgrade to Snow Leopard when my new hard drive arrives (any day now) so maybe that will solve the problem. I've also recently encounter this problems but on my desktop (Q6600 with Abit IP35P). The Symptoms were exactly like this, but after I update the chameleon boot loader with RC3 R658, now it boots everytime successfully.. As far as fixing this it may have to do with when you install it. The way I did mine was list disk0s2 as active, install OSX w/chameleon, then boot into 7 install disk using DVD, use diskpart to mark disk0s1 as active, repair and restart, boot into 7, cmd and diskpart to set disk0s3 as active. Then it would autoload Chameleon and allow me to choose which OS to boot into.
