Wile E. Coyote
Today, I've encountered the next problem: One app (Opera, but it is not related to app, I'm pretty sure) stops launching When hit in dock - it just show light dot and dim it in a moment App even is not shown in Activity Monitor - actually it does not starts -- -- -- I tried to remove cpmpletely all data related to the app, and reinstalled it numerous of times (with rebooting, pretrashing/trash cleaning, all, all, all) - making system clean from the App completely Nothing helps.. -- -- -- BUT I tried to run App directly from DMG - it works! I started to explore - App works even if I just RENAME it in Applications folder - it's ridiculous, what happened with Mac OS - it looks like it filters the App with specified exact path Is there any solutions (search insanely and googling did not help)? THANK YOU !! PS. Configuration: Mac Mini (1st gen), Mac OS X 10.6.2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199369-app-wont-start-immediate-close/ Share on other sites

Wile E. Coyote
Hi, did you try repairing permissions? Could there be any problem with permissions if I completely remove it sudo rm -rf /Applications/Opera.app sudo rm -rf /Library/....Opera\ Settings etc.. and after that - reboot - after that drag application from DMG to Applications folder.. if it could be - please help me where to read about Permissions repairing procedure, because Opera.app folder has "normal" permissions like any other neighbour app.. Wile E. Coyote
Disk Utility's repair permissions does not work Just again - this is not Opera problem I've renamed 'Opera.app' to 'Opera_.app' and it works great as always So, I'll try to contact Apple Official Support PS. I'm using Opera because it's not worse than Safari (I like Safari) in any standard feature, but it has Opera Link - unbeatable feature, that I'm using on all my computers (two macs, PC and Linux) and Opera Link is much better than Mozilla Weave to my usage profile. lucaspeed
Tried minutes ago with the latest version of Opera and it works very well. Why don't you try to create a NEW user, log in the new account, and download Opera there? This way you will know if it's a SYSTEM problem or a USER problem. My 2 cents… Regards, Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/199369-app-wont-start-immediate-close/#findComment-1342488 Share on other sites
