I just want to know, if i upgrade my bios, must i repatch my dsdt.aml

so furtheron

does OSX read only the DSDT.aml or

also part of the bios or

does osx without DSDT just kext - class and ID matching

glad, if someone could answer

Hi, I'm not an expert but I think both. We can see in many tutorials to set sata as AHCI. If you have a EFI install why should you setup BIOS? Maybe DSDT emulates parts of BIOS to create a compatible enviroment for OSX.

Thanks to oldnapalm.

Thx Cracco,

but that doesnt match the point.

AHCi for Sata is another point

the Bios contains a lot of Tables, one of them, and an important one is the DSDT Table, here is written, which components are where to find on your hardware and how to treat them.

hardly no one, besides original apple macs and some rare mainboards have an EFI chip and install, all other mainboards have a bios chip and an EFI workaround, which sometimes is miscalled an EFI-Install.

So my questions are still open.

Ok,

As I said I'm not an expert.

My Mobo is able to boot from UEFI, so I have windows 7 x64 on a GPT disk and I did not have problems updating BIOS through XP and OSX is working fine. Looking for a Intel E7520 server MB and will try to install Windows server 2003 through EFI. About the DSDT.aml I can say that OSX is not able to comunicate with the entire MB DSTD (only parts), so you need a patch to complete the process(as I said, to emulate it). (Wikipedia-DSDT).

Thanks guy, I want to say that I'm learning a little bit more trying to help you. "cool".

Sorry if my english is not so clear.
