dailohk
Dear All, I'm writing here because I'm completely stumped and lost. I'm trying to install 10.5.6 using IPC. Every time I install I cannot get the sound to work. These are the kexts I've used. ICH10 Sata, ICHX SATA Jmicron ata for IDE, Legacy Jmicron ATA ALC888 / ALC 888 (old) / Alazia / ALC888d / Legacy AppleHDA ALC 888 Address 0 / Legacy AppleHDA ALC 888 Address 2 All with no sucess. With my bios set to AHCI disable and alazia installed the bootup stops at UDMA 4. With AHCI enabled it loads with all options. Do I have to have AHCI enabled for 10.5.6 with sound? I have had one success and that was using OSx86 tools to install Applehda installer. But it only worked for one boot and subsequent boots have all failed to have sound. I've tried reinstalling the whole system and doing the same to no success. I would bow down to whom ever can help me please. Thank you so very much. Dellmantt
No the question was - search the entire volume to see if there was more the one com.apple .boot .plist there are dailohk, did your other post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...98690&st=20 where you asked the same question Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198921-please-help/#findComment-1339123 Share on other sites

I've tried using spotlight to search to no success. I then went into my library via finder and just found one plist file and one plist backup file. pdave54
Re other post http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...38&t=198690 yep I was not upset, although did wonder why you started another post Re the link, yes he got it from another post of mine, may work for you it involves finding the device ID and inserting it in the kext info.plist. I don't know why I did not remember as I had told someone about it a few days ago. Re spotlight, I don't use it and have it disabled, download easy find & use that, will find everything. Am still stumped why your folder is empty. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198921-please-help/#findComment-1339267 Share on other sites

Also what is the best application to edit the body of kexts? Do the edit. move the original to the trash, copy the edited one back. I always run kext utility after Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198921-please-help/#findComment-1339283 Share on other sites
dailohk
I'm planning on doing another install. which kext would you recommend for my audio. I'm using an ALC888 codec chip, but in the bios it says Azalia sound. In win xp here is what was needed to edit my kext. HDAUDIO\FUNC_01&VEN_10EC&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_1458A002&REV_1000\4&24734D84&0&0201 However in winxp it also uses Legacy codecs as drivers. What in your expertise do you recommend I use for the install? Once installed and if it still doesn't work. I'll try and edit the kext as you mentioned in the other post. Thanks Dailo P.S did I get the right information? or do i need more?
