pdave54
I have bought a new DVD-RW -> LG GH22NS40 The drive is accesed every 10 minutes (even when no CD/DVD is inserted). The led blinks and the drive search something. This happens every 10 minutes. Is there a way to solve this problem ? I have installed a clean Mac OS X 10.6 (EP35-DS3L). I would be grateful for any help! Thanks! This happens with my external usb2 dvd dl drive. Don't think it hurts anything or slows the system. Have a look in the logs you may see what is accessing it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198828-dvd-drive-accesed-every-10-minutes/#findComment-1338207 Share on other sites
leslieking
Nothing appears in Console Messages. Yes, it's not a problem, but I hate the noise. Dr. C
Same problem here - the drive (LG, in sysprofiler "HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H62N") already did this with 10.5 and now with 10.6. System is as stated in the signature AsRock ConRoe 1333 DVI-H / ICH7. leslieking
The solution: disable "Put the hard disk to sleep" in System Preferences -> Power Management. Works for me Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198828-dvd-drive-accesed-every-10-minutes/#findComment-1340301 Share on other sites
