justry
Hi everyone, I'm a mac newbie, and I just installed kalyway 10.5.2, but my ATI radeon 4350 sapphire won't work. I googled for hours, but I couldn't find a definitive answer. So all I want to ask is this: is it possible for my card to work with this system or not? And if yes, how? please help! Thanks in advance.. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198789-please-help/ Share on other sites
Mushishi
the 4300 series only work in snow leopard not in normal leopard. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198789-please-help/#findComment-1337947 Share on other sites
justry
Aw... Isn't there any hack or kext that could make it work? Or at least let me change the resolution? I've a widescreen and now everything looks flattened. I can change the display mode on my monitor to "aspect" but then I've got these huge black margins on both sides.... justry
I tried the "Graphics Mode" thing..both from the darwin boot prompt and boot.plist. None of them worked... Any ideas?!! I have not seen a fix for this in Leopard. You could try DSDT of GFX string methods Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198789-please-help/#findComment-1338026 Share on other sites

pdave54
uh, how exactly do I do it? I googled but I'm not sure I understand!! There are plenty of posts in this forum about both methods. Go and read them. I am sorry to be blunt but I for one am not going to hold your hand and do it for you http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=112577 http://forum.netkas.org/index.php?topic=9.195 http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=181405 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198789-please-help/#findComment-1338135 Share on other sites
justry
First thanks for the quick reply... Now I read the links you sent. I think I have a vague understanding of what's going on, but I still can't figure out exactly what to do here. How do I get this EFI string for my card? Googling for it didn't help!! There's also no mention of the ati 3450 on any of those pages??? Sorry but you understand this is my first ever contact with mac. If this were windows it'd be really easy and I wouldn't even be asking, but all this mac stuff is completely new to me. And especially after finding plenty of answers like Mushishi's answer above, I'm beginning to lose hope. I've already spent days trying to get this working. Well gfxutil method might work, I would give it a try. But anyway two options are install a card thats supported or/and update to snow leopard Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198789-please-help/#findComment-1338197 Share on other sites
