Hello all!

I have a laptop - Acer Aspire 5562 WXMi with a built-in web camera "Acer Orbicam". I want to use iChat with video to talk to my friends but I can't use a cam.

In the System Profiler I can see like a "USB camera" but that's all.

Does anybody have an explanation how can I use it in JaS OS X 10.4.6?

Any suggestion will be appreciated!!!

You can try Macam ( http://webcam-osx.sourceforge.net/ ) to see if it will work with your camera (just run the app, you don't have to install the driver to test it). If it sees your camera then you can install the driver which will get your camera recognized by the system. If you want to use it with iChat, you will also need iChatUSBCam ( http://www.ecamm.com/mac/ichatusbcam/ ), a third party app that fools iChat into using a USB camera (normally it only recognizes FireWire cameras). If Macam doesn't work, you are pretty much out of luck. I'm using it with one of those cheap $15 Aiptek PenCam's from Wal-Mart (sold under the brand name Digital Concepts).

Any Luck? I've got an OrbiCam and haven't had much luck with macam.

System Profiler has this to say:

Version:	1.00
 Bus Power (mA):	500
 Speed:	Up to 480 Mb/sec
 Manufacturer:	OEM
 Product ID:	0x0896
 Vendor ID:	0x046d

Any hacks for Cams?

I have similar problem with intergated camera in my Lenovo 3000 V100, the camera is ALi Auto Focus 1.3 MP (PId 0x5602, VId 0x0402). Same kind of luck with USB Creative WebCam Live! Pro (PId 0x4038, VId 0x041e).

I've tried Macam 0.9.0 and iChatUSBCam. No luck at all.
