AirmanPika
OK since I'm down to just my imac to use right now I decided to start playing again. Recieved my copy of Beta 2 from MS the other day and proceded to install. Instead of messing with bootcamp I used some of the steps from the Tri Boot install instructions in another thread and loaded an image of OSX onto one 20gb partition and created a 2nd partition with the rest to house Vista as I'm making it my primary OS for testing. Sofar Vista seems to be running decent. On occasion it seems to slow down (especially when playing games or transfering large amounts of data). HL2 Ep1 is the only game I've tested sofar. Looks good for the x1600 but is very jumpy thanks to the said slowdown. Also on the driver end of things I ran the bootcamp drivers CD in vista so it would extract the drivers to the hard drive (it of course failed and rolled back but I saved the files before they were deleted). There is no need to install the video drivers as they don't work and vista seems to include a decent driver built in. The big thing I was after was the sound. I ran the installer and after it sat for a while (I thought it had hung but it didn't) I now have full sound out of the speakers. The Wifi drivers worked too. Also in the extracted folder were drivers for the kayboard eject key, the bluetooth kicker, and the ethernet. Eithernet was already working so skipped those but I could not get the bluetooth drivers installed after finding which HID device was the radio, nor could I get the eject key going. Maybe someone else can figure these out for us. Anyway people have been asking so I went ahead and uploaded the drivers http://rapidshare.de/files/23171856/Macint...ows_XP.zip.html I just realized how huge the above file is since it has the video drivers (~57megs). Since we obviosly don't need them for vista I uploaded a second zip file minus the video drivers (~10 megs) http://rapidshare.de/files/23172991/Macint...s_XP_2.zip.html Anyway thats all I have for now. ndtechie05
Ok, some questions. Right off the bat when I got Vista installed, I downloaded the Vista drivers from ATI's site. Are you saying I didnt have to do that? If so, whats the eaisest way to go about removing them. They might be the reason Oblivion and FarCry wont let me switch resolutions. Thanks. Yea I'm using the ATI drivers that came with Beta 2. You should be able to just uninstall them like any other ATI Drivers. That should revert you back. hulk1st
run the command AppleBootcamp.exe /V /a on any xp machine to get the whole archive extracted to your hard drive. you get a system 32 folder including some dlls and stuff. copy them to the same path on your vista machine and put a shortcut of the cdeject.exe (dunno the real filename anymore) to startup folder and you get the eject button working. of course you can also run the file manually each time you boot. for more information take a look at my post at the middle of page 5 of that thread: http://forum.osx86project.org/index.php?sh...pic=14448&st=80 greetings, hulk1st Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19844-more-vista-stuff/#findComment-130575 Share on other sites
