blkhockeypro19
With the release of the second update to Mac OS X Snow Leopard last Monday, many problems have arisen for netbook users. The bad news began when it was reported that beta builds of 10.6.2 had no support for the Atom Processor; a commonly used processor in netbooks. The problem originates in a revision to the kernel in 10.6.2. The changes Apple made to the latest mach_kernel removes support for this processor, leaving updated netbooks in a useless state. Fortunately, insanelymac user "teateam" patched the new kernel just two days after Apple rolled out the update. The original post can be found here. Many users are reporting success with this patch, so if your an Atom user looking to update to 10.6.2, give it a try, and let's not forget to give "teateam" a round of applause for saving all our hackintosh netbooks! ilia.uk
Good!Once you have it running use Carbon Copy Cloner to clone it to your internal drive, then run Chameleon on it and copy the boot file into the root and VIOLA, you have your machine running! SticMAC I accidentaly stumbled onto your post Stimac (fortunately). I've managed to get 10.6.2 working perfectly on my PC and I'm a bit paranoid of screwing it up (+ I would like to experiment with a few things). If I repartition my HD with Disk Utility; periodically (e.g. every 2 weeks) use carbon copy cleaner to clone my main partition onto the backup partition - is that a good way to ensure I don't lose my data? Would I need to install Chameleon onto that partition or would my bootloader (RC2?) detect it and bring it up also. ilia.uk
Only one boot loader exists per HD so if you mess the one up it influences the other Partition, hence me working from an USB Drive with its own Bootloader...(not that I mess things up anymore!! ) SticMAC Would installing it be relatively easy if you connect it to another hackintosh and reinstall the bootloader from OSX? PeterA
10.6.2 Worked on my Atom! /back pat teateam Really? I'm impressed. I cannot get it working on my Asus 1000HA (Atom N270, 160GB, 2GB). Depending on which bootloader I use I either get kernel panic at the outset or get SL to load only to have nothing work (keyboard, trackpad, network, video res, etc.) I've pretty much given up on having a netbook running SL. I do have a Dell D620 that runs it quite well.
