tpad
Hi guys, I've recently bought a second hand pc with the following specs: Motherboard: Asus M2N-CM DVI Processor: AMD DUAL CORE 2.7GHZ Graphics Card: Gigabyte Nvidia GeForce 8600GT Hard Disk: IDE Seagate Barracuda 80gb I've tried 3 different distributions and all I get is a waiting for root device error. What do you think? Should I buy a SATA HDD to solve the problem? or do I have to replace the motherboard and processor? THANKS ~tpad Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/198068-bought-a-second-hand-pc-and-want-to-hackintosh-it/ Share on other sites

THANKS ~tpad Unfortunately, the AMDs are a lot more effort to make work as a hackintosh, if it's even possible. So essentially you are better off chucking them. The motherboard is really the key component to making the hackintosh work. So choose carefully. A sata HD will definitely make things easier, as will a SATA dvd drive. The graphics card should work fine.
