TACT1CAL
Hey guys... Looks like im going mad at this... I tried a hundred times to boot into the Install dvd but everytime i get an kernel error... And i don't know why?! I tried nearly everything... The Dvd just starts up and then something like "Turn your Computer off or Restart it, {censored}" appears (could be because of my AM2 socket?!)... Hope some of you can help me... I had this on my FSC 3438G notebook and on my Pc now... My Box: AMD X2 3800+ MSI K9N NEO-F 1gb Kingston 160gb Sata HDD (Samsung) 40gb IDE (Maxtor) ( -> this is the HDD osx should be on ) X1800GTO My Install dvd is named MacOSX_10.4.4DVD with MacOSX_10.4.4DVD_latest.ppf attached to it, wich is an 10.4.5 update for this ISO and has all Maxxus patches. P.S.: Excuse my english, im german Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19804-install-dvd-doesent-boot-1045/ Share on other sites
Thangsang
Well 10.4.4 and others have a host of bugs. Why don't you try Goatsecx10.4.6 It's the best and almost 99% of bugs are fixed with this new release version and ppl don't have any complain about this release. It's driver database too is huge and detects almost everything. If you can't download this, then try burning your DVD at the lowest possible speed and try booting it again. Sometimes the kernal panics because of bad burn also... good luck.. gwprod12
did you happen to note any of the messages from the kernel panic? an X2 3800 should support sse2, but have you checked with cpu-z? TACT1CAL
I will make a screen in a few minutes... (it was like kernel panic or so.. ) Uhmmm my cpu supports even SSE3... should not be the problem... gwprod12
I was pretty sure it did, but it never hurts to be certain. A kernel panic can be caused by a lot of different things. I think some people have reported (I dont have an AMD, so I dunno) that Dual Core AMD Cpus dont work unless cpus=1. TACT1CAL
i heard about it, too... But where can a deactivate one core? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19804-install-dvd-doesent-boot-1045/#findComment-133831 Share on other sites
gwprod12
at the darwin prompt On Install > Please Hit Any Key to Install OS X or hit F8 for boot options. Hit F8, type cpus=1 -v hit enter if it doesnt panic, that was your problem. gwprod12
so, you put cpus=1 -v in at the prompt? (remember, this has to be done every time) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19804-install-dvd-doesent-boot-1045/#findComment-133836 Share on other sites
TACT1CAL
so, you put cpus=1 -v in at the prompt? (remember, this has to be done every time) I did... cpus=1 -v What could be wrong? gwprod12
you might try: platform=X86PC cpus=1 -v idlehalt=0 pn=3 (it's worth a try) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19804-install-dvd-doesent-boot-1045/#findComment-133843 Share on other sites
TACT1CAL
you might try:platform=X86PC cpus=1 -v idlehalt=0 pn=3 (it's worth a try) still the same problem... with all my osx versions (10.4.3 up to 10.4.6)... Don't know why this is happenig -.- As I saw, im not the only one with the problem, theres another thread with this problem. But there is no opinion either -.- I hope you guys can help me to get this work somehow! TACT1CAL
ok.. somehow it worked with cpus=2 i installed it now.. but i cant boot it... if ther is no osx dvd in the device, it doesent happen anything. if theres the dvd is inside, it loads some datas pretty fast and then a kernel panic appears again (i let the time go through ...waiting 8 seconds...) should i try it with cpus=2 again? and where can i write this? some ideas? I installed the sse 2 patch, the amd base system and the 10.4.6 patch. gwprod12
yeah, you need to do a search on making your partition bootable. You CAN boot from the DVD into your system, but you have to use some configuration options at the prompt (they're different for everyone) Like, you might try rd=disk0s1 cpus=2 platform=ACPI -v LOL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19804-install-dvd-doesent-boot-1045/#findComment-134094 Share on other sites

The MAIN problem is: I CANT boot with the Install dvd because the kernel panics. gwprod12
I understand. Except when you "rd=disk0s1", you arent booting the kernel from the cd, you're booting the kernel from the hard drive. I dont understand why you cant get into a darwin prompt to do that. It might not work, because everyone's partitioning is different, but disk0s1 is a good bet. Thanks in advance!! EDIT: Well... it doesent work anyway -.- It seemed to load properly (lots of text came up my screen ^^) but in the end the is another kernel panic... I did that: rd=disk0s1 cpus=2 platform=ACPI -v With cpus=1 it only stucks at the very beginning... A funny this is somehow, that when I type rd=diskOs1 there appears a couple of "still waiting for root device"... WTF?! gwprod12
probably because the partition you're trying to boot isnt disk0s1. I dont know what it is, maybe disk0s2, or disk1s1... I dont know what it is, maybe disk0s2, or disk1s1... i checked it now: it's defenitly disk0s1... I installed even 10.4.5 ( wich is working perfectly with cpus=2 ) -> Kernel panic when it is trying to boot. What is wrong?! Ok, it works finally with 10.4.5.. I love it!
