CarbonatedWater
OK, I just built my rig in the past week and I'm having trouble installing OSX on it. At first, I didn't intent it to run OSX, but I want it on now. I've tried iPC and iAtkos but none of them seem to work (they just restart my PC as soon as I boot into Darwin for some reason) Here are my specs (pulled from EVEREST): System Memory 3063 MB Video Adapter NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT (512 MB) DMI Motherboard Manufacturer MICRO-STAR INTERNATIONAL CO.,LTD DMI Motherboard Product P55-GD65 (MS-7583) CPU Type Intel i5 Quad-Core , 3366 MHz (17 x 198)(SOCKET - 1156) Disk Drive #1 SAMSUNG HD154UI ATA Device (1500 GB, 5400 RPM, SATA-II) Disk Drive #2 ST3360320AS ATA Device (360 GB, 7200 RPM, SATA-II) Optical Drive TSSTcorp CDDVDW TS-H653N ATA Device Anyone know why it's doing this by looking at my specs? I really can't afford any new parts as I spent the last of my money on a new monitor. LogicalUser
a preliminary glance at your hardware looks fine, i see no red flags iPC and iAtkos are not designed for the new i5s, it does not surprise me in the slightest that they will not work. Your best bet would be this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=176155 From what I've managed to gather; 10.6.2 vanilla kernel is compatible, but you will for sure need the very latest in bootloader, kexts and a patched DSDT file to boot. Plus, with a 9800gt odds are you'll have to roll back some NVIDIA kexts to the 10.6.1 versions to get your graphics working.
