dumplingfriend
I successfully updated to 10.6.2 with working video (finally), but now i'm experiencing problems with my audio chipset The sound is perfectly fine when i'm moving my mouse around, or the window, but as soon as I stop (with youtube, for example) it will start to skip and lag, as well as the video. I know it's not video or flash related, since I have tested it with system sounds and I get the same scratchy distorted lag nearly every time. I have tried changing to 16 bit, I have tried changing frequencies, I tried tons of .pkgs and .kexts, and I just don't know what I can do anymore. Someone help please Chipset: VIA Vinyl VT1708 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197512-via-vinyl-vt1708/ Share on other sites
nozz93
Try using this VoodooHDA.kext: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...st&id=60488 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197512-via-vinyl-vt1708/#findComment-1332761 Share on other sites
mercindustries
i'm having similar problem as his and after trying out the kext u provided, i still don't get any sound. previously i could get audio running back in 10.5 EDIT: Ok I've managed to get audio working by using back my old AppleAzaliaAudio.kext from 10.5, but volume change from hotkey doesn't work, any possible workaround for this? Or maybe a newer version of AppleAzalia for 10.6? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197512-via-vinyl-vt1708/#findComment-1336510 Share on other sites
nozz93
I'm using this VoodooHDA with my VIA VT1708S and I have mic and 2.1 working. 5.1 is a bit buggy. I'm using Snow Leopard 10.6.2 vanilla. mercindustries
thats really odd ive tried out the voodoohda and all i get is just distorted but if i mess around with the volume it would play some sound, i tried popping the jacks around and still the same result. did audio midi setup resolution change and still no luck. maybe asus' implementation of this chip is different than the rest. dumplingfriend
Ah! I've found the solution! This is for anyone who's experiencing the same problem, might work with anything since it's a CPU thing apparently. I went into BIOS and disabled C1E under CPU options (could be in other places in your specific BIOS), behold my sound works PERFECTLY! (haven't tried more than 2 channels, however it's clear as can be) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197512-via-vinyl-vt1708/#findComment-1340100 Share on other sites

mercindustries
i've opened up appleazalia kext to investigate why this particular kext was working, and saw that the pci family matches to the one on the mobo <key>Intel ICH6 Azalia Audio</key> <dict> <key>CFBundleIdentifier</key> <string>com.apple.driver.AppleAzaliaController</string> <key>IOClass</key> <string>AppleAzaliaController</string> <key>IOPCIPrimaryMatch</key> <string>0x26688086 0x27d88086 0x284b8086 0x32881106 0x026c10de 0x037110de 0x03e410de 0x03f010de 0x044a10de 0x044b10de 0x437b1002 0x43831002 0x75021039</string> <key>IOProviderClass</key> <stri i've been trying to patch vanilla sl applehda.kext to work with this sound card and to make it shown in system profiler but to no avail, maybe someone else could (or maybe guide me), or check to see if there are any other variants that are compatible with the id? this will surely benefit alot of amd users who has 00:14.2 Audio device [0403]: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) [1002:4383] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/197512-via-vinyl-vt1708/#findComment-1340728 Share on other sites
