Hi,

I am using a DELL Inspiron 1525 Laptop, and Installing MAC OS X Snow Leopard 10.6 Retail from a USB ("Single USB Method") like in this page:

http://antyalias.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/...gle-usb-method/

I am using all the things from there, except the Kexts, I took them from this page: (Boot 132 for 1525)

http://macyourpc.com/2009/09/13/mac-os-x-1...oot-132-method/

I am installing using -x -v parameters and it's installing great, and then I can use the system only with -x parameter for Safe Boot, And I am using System Update to install the new 10.6.2 Update.

After the installation (or update, the error is the same), I can't start the system in normal boot, it's freezes on some errors, these are the last:

Refusing new kext com.apple.iokit.IONetworkingFamily, v1.9: already have loaded v1.8.
DSMOS has arrived.
IntelMemory::init.
IntelMemory::init.
InitPool: offset= 0x08000000 size = 0x08000000
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::start - waitForService(resourceMatching(AppleIntelCPUPowerManagment) timed out.
FakeSMC: key not found BMEB, length - 1
ACPI_SMC_PlatformPlugin::registerLPCDriver - WARNING - LPC device initialization failed: C-state power managment not initialized
Warning - com.apple.driver.InternalModemSupport declares no kernel dependencies; using com.apple.kernel.6.0.

and here is a picture of it:

Note: With, or without the 10.6.2 (or 10.6.1) Update, the error is showen, so I dont think it's the updates that making this problems.

I already tried some things in order to fix it, but none of them helped (Using NullCPUPowerManagment.kext, removing the chipse GMA 965/950 drivers and trying some other or EFI string and some other non-helpful solutions).

Does anyone know how to fix this thing?

Thanks a lot!

bump :(

sorry to get your hopes up for an answer, but just chiming in to say i am having similar problems (dell 1525, only boots in -x mode) just out of interest, have you had any problems with your power adaptor or battery on your 1525? This dell has and im wondering if it is related.

Well, I can confirm that it is possible to have 10.6.2 boot normally on an Inspiron 1525.

I started with my 10.6.2 Install, which I originally made on my E520.

I then modified it so it would run on my Inspiron 1545.

I wanted to see if the Intel GMA version of the 1545 might work. Not having one, I borrowed my friend's 1525 and tried to boot it. Some kexts had to be modified, and I had to disable AppleGMAX3100.kext, but I did get it to boot. Sound, ethernet, and wifi all were functional.

Anyway, I believe you can get this to work, but until we get a better video driver, QE/CI won't work.

UDPATE: I found that if I delete the sleepenabler.kext, install the update, then reinstall sleepenabler.kext, life is good. Running 10.6.4 now.

I am having a similar problem, although I can't currently verify that the error is the same. At least in my case the problem appears to be the Sleepenabler.kext, although I am at a loss on what to do to fix it. Dailyblogged version of install works, and can install updates to 10.6.4, but I never could get that install to work (maybe because I used iDeneb for my 10.5.6 install).

I used the boot123 method mentioned above for my install, and can update to 10.6.1. Everything works but maybe audio, just finished another reinstall after trying 10.6.2 again so not sure on audio, worked first time around though. I'm going to search for a proper sleepenabler.kext, if I find it and it works I will post a follow up here.
