swanniebroo
Hey Guys, Just start out by saying: 1) I am fairly computer literate, and anything I don't understand, I can Google and get a good idea of, and 2) This is my first time (attempting) installing OSx86. Let's start out with my hardware. Asus P5Q-E Wifi-AP Edition Intel Core 2 Quad 2.33Ghz Processor. Previously 4GB of RAM, although one stick blew recently, so 2GB RAM. nVidia GeForce 6600GT 256.00MB (Fairly old, I know) Numerous Hard-Drives, but the one Mac OS X will be booting to is a brand new 1.5TB Western Digital Green Drive, 7200, with 32MB cache. Each time I attempt the install, I reformat it to a 100GB partition, with the rest of the drive free space. I do this using the Mac OS X Boot CD. And, the OSx86 version I am using is: iPC 10.5.6 Final PPF5 (or something about PPPF5, it's got a P, an F and a 5 in it (Tutorial on "Testing Grounds" told me to use this version) Okay, I can install fine, it all shows up correctly, first couple of installs I checked the disk and all that. Each install, I have widdled down the number of driver/patches/tools/etc. that I have tried to install. Most recent install was with nothing. However, the problem NEVER changes. The only thing that has ever changed is it went from 16384 to 10something when I removed the stick of RAM. The 4096 didn't change. I would tell you what it says after this, but, it doesn't say anything. It just hangs. "4096 cluster IO buffer (and there is one more word after this). I am using -v (to see what is going wrong), -f (to force load all kexts)(something from various tutorials), and cpus=1, because otherwise I just get a reboot when Darwin tries to load. Sorry if that problem description is a bit vague, I just can't remember the number that starts with 10, but i know it is 5 digits, the first two being 1 and 0. And the word after buffer. It is always the same. I am on my laptop right now, and this install is going on to my desktop. Thanks in advance to anyone who even suggests a solution. I would be very grateful. P.S. Have tried an install with DSDT patch on, and have also modified the BIOS a little to specs other people have tried.
