davidjensen
Yikes! I have so much school work on my Hackintosh that I need to access. I guess I should have used the EP45-UD3Pv3 installer before updating to 10.6.2. The update removes the Sleepenabler.kext for compatibilities sake. This sleepenabler.kext is causing the kernal panic. Any suggestions on what to do from here? Mac-less in Evanston! digitaldog
I'm in the same boat. Should have read Stell's Blog before the update. Hackintosh just KPs. Any way to recover from this? Searay_X
http://netkas.org/?p=315 Install it however you are loading your kexts - You can pull the drive and put it in another mac or use my magic stick method (look up my posts) Regards Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196817-sleepenablerkext-causing-kernal-panic-on-my-lifehacker-hackintosh-build/#findComment-1325463 Share on other sites
digitaldog
I finally got it fixed. I booted from the USB SL install and started a terminal session. From there I changed directory to the SL install on the HD and backed up the mach_kernel. Copied over the old mach_kernel from the USB install and rebooted. This got rid of the kernel panic. Applied Stell's version 3 installer and restored the backed up kernel from the 10.6.2 update and reboot. Everything is working again! digitaldog
Please, can you explain it step-by-step? I do not know how to do it using terminal. Thanks!!!! I assume you followed the install from the Lifehacker article. After you boot from the USB SL install and choose your language, go the the Utilities -> Terminal. A terminal window will appear. Type the following minus the comments: cd /Volumes/Mac OS X (or whatever the name you used for the OS X install) \cp mach_kernel mach_kernel.10.6.2 (make a copy of the updated 10.6.2 kernel) \cp /mach_kernel mach_kernel (this copies the old kernel from the USB install to the HD) Exit the OS X installation. Reboot. Run Stell's version 3 installer. Copy back the 10.6.2 kernel you made a copy of in the step above: cd / cp mach_kernel.10.6.2 mach_kernel Reboot and everything should work again. Thanks for your explanation. I used Conti myhack installer (PCEFI 10.5, Chameleon RC3 i think) for a vanilla retail install. I will investigate about Stell's installer in order to follow your steps. I just about had a heart attack. Love this site! I second everything you just said lol. I was even asking questions on this site, but no one knew exactly what the problem was. I have the GA-EP45-UD3P and was having the same problem. I was unaware that there was even a version 3 of the installer! So once again... THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! One thing i do not like though is the new boot loader theme. It is basically the same, but has those ugly icons. Like the obey logo instead of the apple logo? why? not a big deal, i just dont get it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/196817-sleepenablerkext-causing-kernal-panic-on-my-lifehacker-hackintosh-build/#findComment-1340248 Share on other sites
