beastacular
Hello, i would like to install a clean version of snow leopard into my core i7 machine. unfortunately all of the guides i have come across (including the one found in these forums) for the gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 require me to have a previous version of leopard installed to prep my hdd so to speak. i managed to borrow a mac laptop but it only has tiger and so none of the patches or even the bootloader run on it. i have 2 versions of leopard iDeneb and iPC and i have the $30 official snow leopard update dvd. now, because i cant figure out a way to properly set up my 8gb zip drive for a clean snow leopard installation in the tiger os i feel i have no choice but to install leopard on one of my other hdds just to prep up my maid hdd. the PROBLEM that i am having is that i cant even begin the leopard installation process at all. i have tried it with both AHCI tuned on and off. i have unplugged all my hdds but the one i plan installing on. i have tried both install dvds and they both do the same thing. the darwin prompt shows up begins to load the installation i see the silver apple screen for a split second then my pc reboots. if i try and put in -v or -x same thing happens but it reboots right before the silver screen and i dont see any errors. now i know the install dvds are good because i am in the process of installing leopard on my peice of {censored} gateway laptop (having other issues with that. it successfully installed but cuz its so old problems with drivers etc.) the pc boots xp fine with ahci on and off. i am completely stumped as i see no reason for both install dvds to cause my system to restart upon attempt of installation. any ideas what could be causing this? preferably i would like to skip the whole leopard install and do i clean snow install but i see no way around it with only tiger available to me.
