jpschoute
Hi, i've installed Goatsecx 10.4.6 on my pc and it's working very well. The only prob is that if i checked SSE3 only kernal-patch i got a blank screen when i booted after installation. I have reed something about that on this forum so i did a standard installating which went oke. Now my question is. How to get it to SSE3 only and whill i bennefit from that. I have a P4 3.0 ghz so SSE3 is supported. In my System Profile it says Hardwareoverzicht: Computernaam: Apple Development Platform Computermodel: ADP2,1 Processortype: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU Aantal cores: 2 Processorsnelheid: 3.8 GHz L2-cache (per processor): 1 MB Processorkenmerken: FPU VME DE PSE TSC MSR PAE MCE CX8 APIC SEP MTRR PGE MCA CMOV PAT PSE36 CLFSH DS ACPI MMX FXSR SSE SSE2 SS HTT TM EST Geheugen: 1 GB Bussnelheid: 800 MHz Opstart-ROM-versie: 1103 (American Megatrends Inc.) Can someone help me and how to patch to SSE3 if it is a performance boost ? U.C.
Your P4 doesnt support SSE3. To confirm check in CPU-Z Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19673-how-get-sse3-only-im-confused/#findComment-129020 Share on other sites
jpschoute
i've checked it in WIN XP CPUZ and my processor has: SSE,SSE2,SSE3,EM64T support Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19673-how-get-sse3-only-im-confused/#findComment-129100 Share on other sites
ultrasoul
SSE 3 is a set of instructions that is coded into a processor by the manufacturer. You can't add or install it. You either have a SSE-3 enabled processor or you don't. jpschoute
I understand that. But i have the goatsecx image installed 10.4.6 and it works ok but still says i have SSE2, wich is not true. Therefor i installed the sse3 kernal only patch but then my pc won't start. So my question is..... not hardware but software. i've read about sse3 only, What's the deal with that Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19673-how-get-sse3-only-im-confused/#findComment-129312 Share on other sites
john j. daniels
I'm added to the jpschoute's question. I have the same configuration listed in System Profile, but also I have a laptop based on Intel Core Duo T2300. How can I make it work under the OS X 10.4.6? jpschoute
really weird havin no reply's. I still don't get it and searched my butt off. When i install osx 10.4.6 i thought enabling the sse3 only kernal is the way (cause i have a sse3 intel P4 3.0 processor). But when i do osx boots into a blank screen with a cursor and then reboots and again and again. So i did a regular install and don't see SSE2 in my profile. Is my osx workin slower than it suppose to? gwprod12
It helps if you boot in verbose mode, so you can see what the problem actually is. If you're getting to a blue screen, your problem isnt SSE3. jpschoute
its not bootin into a blue screen. Just a blank screen then reboot blank reboot etc. It should work though ?! im workin now in standard mode so i think sse3 emulation is enabled. Should there be a performance increase if i have my osx in ppure sse3 and HOW to do so Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19673-how-get-sse3-only-im-confused/#findComment-132011 Share on other sites
