I'm looking to put together a mac for compatibility with some of our customers at work, but boss-man wants to see a proof-of-concept machine first. I dusted off and ECS PM800-M2 motherboard, threw in a half a gig of unbranded pc2100 ram, installed an Nvidia GEForce 5200 card and threw in some IDE devices. Prescott 2.4ghz proc supports SSE3 instruction sets. I'm currently playing with iDeneb 10.5.6 - I get thru the install and the machine begins to boot, then the screen goes gray and I am instructed to restart my machine. Using the -v option at startup I don't get any kernel panics, it just hangs halfway thru the load. Apologies, didn't write down where it hangs. I've read posts for prolly 2 hours and everyone refers to kernel panic or error messages that can be sorted out. My install isn't giving me any of that. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to start? Different distro? Different parts? I have another mobo (different make/model) I can try, but it has to be swapped out of an existing windows box. Thanks, Jon

Customization - I've done about eight installs from barebones to kitchen sink and can't get it working. As for distros I pulled kalyway 10.5.2 last night - I'll burn a dvd when I get home and give it a shot. Curious - are you running latest greatest quad core technology or are you on an old single core like me? If another distro doesn't work I'm gonna try a different mobo, but looking fo suggestions I guess.

Thanks

nevermind on the system question - after I posted I saw your system specs in your post. Maybe I'll have to look at that more closely in the other forum pages........
