chipperclocker
Hi all, Let me first begin by thanking both all the regular contributors in this forum and hardwareguys for the excellent info they have in Youtube videos on getting this laptop up and running as a hackintosh with iDeneb 10.5.7. For the most part, all the main components seem to work fine. I have ambient light sensors, trackpad and trackpoint, media keys, GPU up and running fully, wifi and LAN, etc. There are still a couple nagging issues though I'd like to see if there are fixes for. Firstly, the seemingly quite common "sleep of death" - occasionally, I have not found a pattern yet, the laptop will not wake up after the screen is blanked or the device goes to sleep. Secondly, I would like some form of scrolling on the trackpad (preferably side scrolling). As an extension of my questions... Should I assume that the few Kexts that were required for 10.5.7 will also be required if I try to get 10.6.x up and running? Thanks so much for any advice! EDIT: Also, for some additional info... I have successfully updated using the Apple Updater to 10.5.8, and also I have noticed that I am unable to shutdown the computer (which seems to be another common issue, yet one without an easy fix). May try this: go to System Preferences>Energy Saver>Untick "Put the hard disk...". Also try installing OpenHaltRestart. As an extension of my questions... SL has a different structure, so some new kexts are need. Some kexts will not be needed. It also depends on the kernel chosen, as some kernels may have a build-in features, so reducing the amount of additional kexts needed. chipperclocker
Thanks Das_Human, unfortunately I am still hunting for a fix for sleep - neither of those suggestions corrected it. I did manage to get Speedstep working, which has helped temps drastically.
