I installed Kalyway 10.5.2 on a Gateway 7322gz that I bought on Ebay for 100 bucks. after the install miraculously everything worked ethernet, wireless, touch pad, keyboard, dvd drive, usb ports (all 4 of them!) and the monitor is at max resolution for the hardware. I am not sure if the pci slot works, the external monitor or the firewire port. I just cant get the the on board Conexant amom to work. Yes I have searched the forums to no avail and yes the speakers work I was running Windows 7 and XP before. I tried two different kext installers conexant hd and Azalia but they dont seem to work as in they dont change the "AC97 audio (PCM)" in preferences. I want to try to do a codec dump from Ubutu for my device and modify a Applehda.kext but honestly I am starting to get in over my head with that. I do know some dos but this is like the difference between Japanese and Korean. While I have your attention I was also wondering if I can use the Kalyway dvd to upgrade an IMac ppc G4? I assume its only good for Intel based machines but thought I would ask anyway. I love this os so much that I bought the Imac on Ebay for 250 bucks so that I had a totally apple machine to work with. Any help would be appreciated.

I managed to edit the installed kext but still a no go so far. I plan I trying different kext and editing that with my device info. With so many laptops using this onboard sound card I am surprised nobody has chimed in with help or ideas. The wife has a friend that is truely a mac genius so he has offered his expertise in this quest. I will keep all posted.

Try adding an EFI string using OSx86Tools.

No, you should do that! Kalyway is made to be installed on a PC PLATFORM ONLY! Use a Retail OS X DVD to install to genuine Mac.

When I run LSPCI on OSx86 tools this is what I get

Intel Corporation 82801DB/DBL/DBM (ICH4/ICH4-L/ICH4-M) comes up for numerous devices. ALthough the vender ID is different ie 24c5 24c6 24cc ect. There seems to be multiple devices using the same chip if you will. I have heard of one user getting sound out of his modem but not his sound card also on gateway machine albeit a different model number. I do seem to have 2 audio kexts though

AppleAC97audio Location:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext

and

AppleAC97audioIntelICH Location:/System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioIntelICH.kext

Perhaps deleting one may work or modifying both. Sorry kinda using this post to think out loud as well as ask for help.
