chico_stang
Hello, I recently installed 10.5.8 on my brother's PC. Everything works great but he is experiencing some weird stuff that I have yet to resolve. First, he is dual booting OS X and Windows 7. Now, when he boots OS X, the system does not load after the apple screen (when it goes to the desktop). All you can see is a blue screen. He has an nVidia 8400GS, and it works using Chameleon's "GraphicsEnabler" option. Now here is the weird thing. If he turns on the PC and boot into Windows 7, then restart and boot into OS X, the desktop does load. Everything works great. For some reason, the system does not boot well unless you boot into Windows and then reboot and boot into OSX. This is the first issue. The second issue is just as weird to me. If he shuts down the PC while on OSX, once he turns it on again the USBs do not work (at least the keyboard). In the bootloader you can't move to choose which OS to boot, nor can you enter the BIOS (again, keyboard does not work), however, once an OS boots then it works. I hope I explained myself clear enough. I don't know if someone has experienced this or has a solution. I searched the forum but gave up as I could not find a similar situation. What could it be? By the way, the specs of his machine are: Athlon 64 X2 4600+, 4 GB 533 MHz DDR2 RAM, 320 GB HDD, MSI GeForce 8400 GS. I think I have the same problem does it say usbf: then something about couldn't halt chip within 100ms but the usb thing hasn't happened that often though. chico_stang
Plug the monitor into the other output. It can't be the output. You see, when he turns on his PC and boots into 7, then reboot and load OS X, it works. But if he boots OS X first, then it gets stuck in a blue screen. If he shuts down the PC on OS X then when he turns it back on the USB keyboard does not respond and OS X does not load properly (blue screen). So the only way to boot correctly into OS X is to turn the machine on and boot into 7 first, then restart and boot OS X. It is kind of weird. Beerkex'd
Yes it can. OS X prefers the monitor to be plugged in to the output closest to the motherboard - Windows doesn't care. Just try it, you have nothing to lose. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/195169-help-me-find-a-solution/#findComment-1318914 Share on other sites

Beerkex'd
Yes (edited my reply, sorry about the tone, I still think it's a weird question to ask though) Use an adapter if you have to (look for one in the box the video card came in).
