mdg
Hi friends: I've exhausted my Googling means and so I'm posting here for some insights... I have a very well working 10.6.1 install. I have a Windows file share on my home network. About a week ago (nothing changed) I stopped being able to mount the Windows share on my Snow Leo 10.6.1 install. I've tried smb://compter_name/shared_folder I've tried smb://IP_Adress/shared_folder ...no matter what I do I get "connection error"... I can ping the computer from Network Utility no problem. I can connect the computer via the MS remote desktop connection (RDC) or VNC no problem. I can print to my network connected printer no problem. But I can no longer mount the share... Does any have this specific problem and can you help me resolve? For context...there are 1,00's of posts on the internet how Snow Leopard broke SMB capabilities on all Mac's...but I just find that hard to believe. Any help? Thanks, /mdg. mdg
Quick update... I realized that there are other (Windows) shares that I was able to connect to (set one up on another Windows PC) so it made me suspect something else was going. I went into the keychain and deleted all entries for the Windows share that I could not connect to...and voila! On the very next attempt to connect...it connected nearly instantly. Cheers. /mdg.
