I followed this guide (http://reviewandhowto.com/2009/09/28/guide-installing-snow-leopard-10-6-1-on-the-dell-inspiron-e1505-laptop/) to get SL installed on my e1505 and everything is working great with one exception.

edit:pdf version of guide. Review_and_How_To_

When I choose sleep the screen goes black but the power light stays on and it doesn't appear to be going to sleep it just hangs. The same things happens when I close the lid. I have to power off the laptop completely (by holding down the power button) in order to use it again.

I tried searching the web but couldn't find anything for 10.6 if anybody could help it would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm. almost the same problem here, with a Dell Inspiron E1405. My machine does go to sleep though, because the power LED starts doing its fade-out/fade-in thing. However when I try to wake it, the screen stays black.

i think you have to use the SleepEnabler kext for it to work.

you can find it here, but i havent tested it, so i couldn't tell you if it works or not.
