Hi All,

I'm in the process of trying to update my iPC 10.5.6 to 10.5.8. I installed the latest Disabler.kext, dsmos.kext, Chameleon, and patched my DSDT.

However, upon rebooting, the system reboots immediately upon booting the kernel. I've booted with with -v -x to force loading all the kexts and it doesn't help. I saw a message that it did patch the DSDT ok. I also tried fakesmc instead of dsmos and that didn't help either.

The system is a Dell Precision 380 (Pentium D 3.00GHz) with SSE2 and SSE3, so I *should* be ok running the vanilla kernel as far as I know.

Anyone have any ideas to try? Anything I can check to see why it reboots?

The CPU must support SSSE3 in order to run the vanilla kernel. SSE3 alone is not enough. So you can only use a patched kernels.

Ahhh. OK, after a little digging, it looks like "Pentium Dual-Core" has SSSE3, but "Pentium D" does not. Thanks for the info!
