ytsestef
Hello everybody! I am obviously a newbie, BUT: I have really tried to read as much as I could before posting, that's how I got my hackintosh running almost perfectly. And I have to say, this forum rocks! I couldn't find any other thread describing my problem, though. My WD MyBook e-sata hdd won't get detected (doesn't even show up in disk manager) upon boot. As soon as I unplug the e-sata cable and plug it in again the drive gets automatically mounted, hot-swap style. Any ideas what is going on and how to get it fixed? I need it to mount upon boot. Hooking it up via FireWire is not an option, 'cause I need the FW bandwidth for other crucial devices. iPC 10.5.6 Asus P5QL-E (ICH10R SATA - JMICRON 363 eSATA/IDE) Core 2 Duo E8400 4GB DDR2/800 Thanks in advance! ninetto
Well, I have had some quirks with eSata since my retail install as well - strangely enough, the eSata in my Kalyway 10.5.3 worked perfectly with hot-swap... Now I have problems similiar to yours. But since you say you are using a WD MyBook, you might want to check the WD site: a friend had enormous problems with eSata and his MyBook on a REAL mac, until he installed some driver from the WD site. Sorry I can't be more specific. I do believe it depends on what version of MyBook you have, Premium ES Edition or Studio Edition... Ohhh and have you checked on how the drive is formatted? FAT32 or HFS...? good luck, ninetto Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194741-jmicron-e-sata-wont-work-until-i-unplug-and-replug-a-drive/#findComment-1318049 Share on other sites
