RAF2
Hello, I have a HOTiSO 10.4.6 Mac OS X install. I had to install OMni drivers in order to be able to switch resolutions and refresh rate, it works. But QE and CI are disabled, I go to System Profiler and there says it is disabled. How can I enable it? Also, I'm still having three problems: 1- USB devices don't work at all, bad drivers. From what I've found out so far, I need the 10.4.3 IOUSBFamily.kext. USB keyboard and mouse didn't work since install, I had to switch to PS/2 ones. 2- I'm facing problems with onboard LAN Ethernet. On my Asus K8V-MX (VIA VT8237R southbridge) it apparently is not auto-detected, thus no network at all. It uses the Realtek RTL8201CL LAN PHY. From what I've read on the forums and Google, it should have worked right out of the box, since I didn't read any compatibility problems about this southbridge and LAN, but it is not. :/ I then tried installing VIA Rhine drivers, to no avail. :/ 3- My ADI AD1888 SoundMAX doesn't work as well. Right after I installed I could move the speaker slider, but no sound on my phones at all. I then tried the tip I've read here about changing the channel numbers to "3" and "6", but that didn't work, I had only 2 channels available on the audio control panel. Then I removed the AppleAC97Audio.kext and tried installing an updated driver I found somewhere here. It killed my sound. I then tried putting the old AppleAC97 back, no avail (the speaker icon disappeared). Anyway, it is a total chaos here. So I'm thinking about installing JaS 10.4.6, is it more compatible with the devices above? It uses 10.4.3 IOUSBFamily.kext as well? Or is it very similar to the HOTiSO's version? Thanks for helping out. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19474-4-questions-videolansoundusb/ Share on other sites

RAF2
Ok, I reinstalled it using JaS 10.4.6 DVD. Video: I installed Callisto drivers, working good. Built-in LAN: Not working. Sound: I can move the sliders and play some music in iTunes, but no sound on the phones. USB devices: Not working. Oh well, I think I'll dump OS X for now. jrsdead
You need the IOUSBFamily.kext and the IONetworkingFamily.kext from 10.4.3 to get your USB and LAN working. For your video try borisbadenov's method it has worked for a lot of people. RAF2
Hi, Yes, I knew that I needed IOUSBFamily.kext from 10.4.3. But I couldn't find it anywhere (torrents were dead already). About the video, it is already working on my R9600 XT, like I said, I used Callisto drivers. About the IONetworkingFamily.kext I have'nt tried that one, will give it a go as soon as I find a 10.4.3 .kext set. Any clue about the sound? Thanks! RAF2
Hi Rammjet, I tried that mic thing before, as I've read on some posts here, unsuccessfully though. I'll read the link you posted, thanks. alextj
Hey, I had the same issue with sound as you had (can change volume, play music in itunes, but no sound output), here is how I fixed it: 1. Don't know if this is necessary step, but anyway - Download fixed AppleAC97AudioVIA.kext from pattjin's thread - Replace /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAC97AudioVIA.kext/Contents/MacOS/AppleAC97AudioVIA with the one from the pattjin's fix. 2. - Go to Applications/Utilities/Audio MIDI Setup. - Set Default Output to "AC97 Audio (PCM)". - If you see "Output is not supported" text on right side of window, then in Properties For you need to select second "AC97 Audio (PCM)". - In Audio Output options select Forumat: 48000,0 Hz. I found that with 44100,0 Hz (default) you will hear an awful tearing when playing sounds. 3. Make sure you have your speakers plugged in to the pink (microphone) jack. After this I had a full working stereo sound. Only problem is that I can't get mic working now since mic jack is in use... Hopefully that helps Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/19474-4-questions-videolansoundusb/#findComment-131579 Share on other sites
