laotzu3
Trying to separate the issues around installing SnowyWindOSX or any other SL on the MSI Wind Nettop series of desktops. These come with either the Atom 330 (dual core 64-bit) or the single core Atom (32-bit). As I think the single core is very similar to the Wind netbook, I'll want to focus this thread on the dual core which seems to have it's own problems. So I've tried to install Dalton's SnowyWindOSX on my Wind Nettop after successfully doing so on my Wind Netbook. But after the install and reboot I get a kernel panic saying, "Unrecognized CPU". After modifying the /Library/Preferences/SystemConfig/com.apple.Boot.plist to include the kernelflag "cpus=1", I get a different kernel panic saying, "Should have 2 Cores, but only found 1 for Die 0" Has anyone been able to install SnowLeopard on a Wind nettop 330 using SnowyWindOSX or Vanilla? If so what tricks are required? Thanks in advance Laotzu Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/194327-snowywindosx-on-msi-wind-desktop-330/ Share on other sites
waldo_pepperjack
If so what tricks are required? Thanks in advance Laotzu Laotzu, I have the same box, currently w/ 10.5.7 (but 10.5.6 mach_kernel) running on it. I would like to move to 10.6.x eventually, but haven't seen any encouraging work on it. Is is possible to disable one of the CPU's in BIOS? How about a tweak to the dsdt setup? avguy17
I have mine up and running. Used the new iatkos s3, everything seems to be working fine. I did have to download natit, as the version on the disk didn't work for me. My only issue is that when I'm using powerpoint or iphoto, it will bog down on me for a few seconds at a time. No big deal unless I'm in the middle of a slideshow. Everything else runs fine, web itunes and videos cause no issues. Anybody have some suggestions? markdt
I have leopard running on my Nettop 330 (snow leopard on my eeepc 1005). Would you be willing to post a brief guide as to how you got iatkos s3 installed? I'm curious which options you chose for the install. Is it necessary to have the same bios changes that were necessary to get leopard to run? Thanks I have mine up and running. Used the new iatkos s3, everything seems to be working fine.
