Kyle.1
Hi all.. Prior MBP owner here. I have a Dell XPS studio desktop with specs that match the OP in this thread: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=151117 I have changed all bios settings to what was posted. First I tried the Ideneb 1.5.1 and would not load into the installer Then after finding the thread above I grabbed off usenet Iatkos v7 and proceeded to get exactly the same thing. Tried booting in verbose and it restarts every time Can anyone shed light on what I might be doing wrong? Cheers Kyle. vilpostus
Probably using a wrong kernel. Use a kernel flag to try other kernels. E.g. -v kernel_name. So to boot a voodoo kernel, type -v voodoo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/193247-dvd-wont-boot-to-installer-now-installed-but-locks-up-on-boot/#findComment-1306129 Share on other sites

Windows can not display contents of the OS X install disk. So it's OK. On booting. Using -v boot flag is a good thing to do. You only need to chose an appropriate kernel. Different disks contain different sets of kernels. Also these kernels are named differently from disk to disk. So a voodoo kernel might be named like voodoo950. If installing from Ideneb 1.5, try these flags: AnV or anv or anv970 speedstep or speedstep920 qoopz or qoopz970 sleep or sleep920 voodoo950 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/193247-dvd-wont-boot-to-installer-now-installed-but-locks-up-on-boot/#findComment-1306992 Share on other sites
Kyle.1
Thanks for the help so far mate! Right, I managed to get iatkps v7 installed with fairly minimal trouble after slowing the dvd burner write speed down (didn't realize this would make such a difference?) Iatkos v7 is now installed with fairly minimal fuss, (-v busratio=20) and selected the minimal required kexts for graphics, dsmos, smbios netkas, disabler, intel ahci.sata, kernel 9.5.0. Left out network, sound and any other drivers for now, just want to get it up and running. But I am now getting stuck here: I have tried both cpus=1 and busratio=20 upon boot but could not get it to go.. Any suggestions? (again, sorry if i've missed something so basic it's silly.. noob I am) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/193247-dvd-wont-boot-to-installer-now-installed-but-locks-up-on-boot/#findComment-1312697 Share on other sites
