bennyZen
got SnowLeopard 10.6.2 (nearly) fully working on ASUS K70io. only annoyance is scratchy sound. but i'm working on this. maybe someone gets it fixed and can post here the steps he took to fix it. ASUS K70io uses MCP79D chipsets from NVIDIA. i have attached my dsdt.aml extracted under linux and patched afterwards. i'm using the latest chameleon release to boot. you can use these kexts i have attached. my installation is working in 64bit mode. if you look for further kexts, use only kexts that run in 64bit mode. any improvements or corrections are welcome. good luck and cheers Extensions.zip dsdt.aml.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192777-asus-k70io-snow-leopard/#findComment-1335866 Share on other sites
bennyZen
hmmm, sleep is not working too. maybe someone has a clue how to get it working and which is the right kext to use. bennyZen
if you can't get your trackpad to work, be sure you have installed VoodooPs2Controller but WITHOUT the trackpad kext. i had to manually remove the trackpad-kext to get my trackpad to work. multiscrolling just works like a charm now. Compilation complete. 0 Errors, 42 Warnings, 0 Remarks, 63 Optimizations So...is this ok for warnings to be 42 or it will not function dsdt patch? All other RTC and HPET patch successfully.. You can just ignore these warnings and use the kexts i have posted above. use my DSDT.aml, since i got less warnings and more optimizations. bennyZen
just changed the original MiniPCI-Express Wireless Card in my ASUS K70io to Atheros AR9280 chipset and it's recognized natively as Airport under Snow Leopard 10.6.2! i got mine from here in just 1 day!! http://www.ricardo.ch/kaufen/computer-und-.../v/an576820558/ ask the guy for this chipset: AR9281 cheers B Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192777-asus-k70io-snow-leopard/#findComment-1343935 Share on other sites
bennyZen
ALC662 was a problem until now but it's perfectly solved after following the instructions ins this post: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...t&p=1358430 The kext is for a K50-ASUS but it works flawlessly on K70IO. Internal MIC and crackling audio are now gone. The camera is mounted upside down in ASUS notebooks. You need iGlasses to fix this for nearly every app using the cam. SoundMa
To make Ethernet work in iAtkos V7 try to use RealtekR1000.kext RealtekR1000.kext.zip Or choose this option during the installation. And in SnowLeopard it supports natively. if i remember right, i used lizard http://www.infinitemac.com/f36/lizard-comp...-creator-t4414/ to fix USB and EHCI realted stuff on my K70io. try the options for chameleon Hi, bennyZen. Lizard is a cool utilit, but I have edited com.apple.boot.plist manually too and it haven't help. I think that my problem is in wrong bootloader version. I use Chamelion 2.0 RC4, but I have replaced the boot file in root directory and don't remember to which one . If it is possible pls attache here your boot file. And when I'm trying to use your dsdt.alm, system doesn't boot at all. bennyZen
best way to get SL running is to use one of the current SL-compilations around from the usual sources. you know them ^^. like mentiones before you need to tweak your startup options. after a successful install get ChameleonRC4 and PCI EFI 10.6 from netkas site. Using lizard you can tweak your boot-options and get the thing running. For this special machine, you need the k50io.kexts to get sound working. did the whole thing the other day from scratch and it worked like a charm. no Leo to start. start right over using SL. hope this helps you on your quest Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192777-asus-k70io-snow-leopard/#findComment-1410867 Share on other sites

Vlad Timofte
Hello robydream. I'm having troubles with the sound in iatkos v7. I used VoodooHDA but i get the scratchy sound and the internal mic is not working at all. The other drivers in the distro didn't worked at all. My asus is K70IC with MCP79. What have you used for the sound in your install ? For WIFI I changed my card with an Broadcom card and it works fine. bennyZen
i'm not sure if it's working under 10.5.x, but you could try the k50.kext attached above to get your sound working. i finally got it working on my K70io with SL using that kext. btw: why go with leopard, if you could have a fully working SL 10.6.2 on your notebook? Vlad Timofte
I've managed to make sound work perfectly on my k70ic with 10.5.7 and 10.5.8. Internal/external mic and internal speakers or external headphones are working perfectly. I used some information in the k50in.kext and some other alc662 driver that I've found. I attached the appleHDA.kext and HDAEnbler.kext that I've edited. I'm not sure if HDAEnabler is really needed. The lizard USB fix works perfectly. I still need to find what the problem is with sleep. When the computer restores the keyboard and mouse will not work anymore. alc662_k70ic_10.5.7_10.5.8.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192777-asus-k70io-snow-leopard/#findComment-1423364 Share on other sites
cfukpixie
I habe sucessfully managed to install SL 10.6.2 with EFI Empire with NO PROBLEM at all Afterwards you just have to use Kexts extensions as found in this forum for this machine and correct you com.apple.boot.plist with graphicsenabler line to make it fully work. Very fast (faster than win 7) and very stable. I am using NFS capabilities of SL and it works like a charm Just a shame that the Atheros9285 is not working.
