All,

This forum has been a very helpful resource to me in my past endeavours with Leopard on the Gigabyte EP45T-UD3LR but it doesn't seem like too many people have this exact revision of the board - I thought I'd post my experiences here in order that it may help others.

Install

I used the excellent install guide at LifeHacker to get the installation up and running: http://lifehacker.com/5360150/install-snow...acking-required

What I liked about that method is that it didn't require a SATA optical drive and I happened to have a big enough USB memory stick laying around. I followed the install to the letter and it went smoothly.

Sound

I'm having to use my Griffin iMic as a USB sound card - which sucks as the quality doesn't seem that great through my speakers at the moment. This didn't work in Leopard either.

It's strange because I can see the entry for the sound in the System Profiler, but there's no option to select it in the System Preferences. I've tried a few different kexts so far but to no avail - any help on this would be appreciated and I'll update this post if I get a working solution.

FireWire

Sorry, this board doesn't have FireWire AFAIK anyway so I can't say if it works - it doesn't show up in my system profiler anyway and I can't remember ever having seen FireWire on the board itself. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Sleep/Wake

All works fine, can occasionally take a few seconds for the USB Mouse to be picked up again but it's nothing major. Certainly works well and it never worked in Leopard for me.

CPU/RAM

They're mis-reported as DDR2 which I believe is the fault of the LifeHacker install, it certainly doesn't seem detrimental as the machine is reporting a faster GeekBench score than when it reported DDR3 under Leopard.

(This particular model of the EP45 board does have DDR3)

GeekBench Results

Leopard results: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/133309

Snow Leopard results: http://browse.geekbench.ca/geekbench2/view/176165

As you can see it's a bit quicker under Snow Leopard, which is nice and it also seems to work fine with TimeMachine which is much better than the situation I had with Leopard ! :(

I used the same board for 2 builds. Here are my builds: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185550

Anyway, I am also having a problem with the audio. No matter what kexts I use, no audio... :)

Did you find a solution? Has anyone?

Cheers.

For anyone interested: I have got my GA-EP45T-UD3LR working with audio. I used the kakewalk install at puru.se, got rid of a few kexts that I have tried before: S/L/E/appleHDA.kext ACLinject.kext etc. added the latest voodooHDA with kextutility and rebooted. using -x32 (needed for fuse-ext2) so can't confirm x64.

Ooh! Awesome!

I've downloaded and will give a try and report back - thanks for updating the thread with your info :)
