animani
Hi guys, I recently purchased a i7 920 2.66 Revision D0 Gigabyte EX58 UD5 Rev.1.0 3x2 OCZ Platinum 1333 cl7 Enermax Modu 82+ 525W And a Sapphire HD 4890 Vapor-X which did not arrive yet. The other componentes are no so relevant as my problem is simple. I did ensemble the rig yesterday but this time using my Original Mac Powerpc (late 2005) graphic card which is a Nvidia 6600 GT LE. All inside a P 182 Antec case. MOBO shows FF after initializing so I guess it does not report any problem and boots fine. But I cannot see anything on screen. The monitor reports "NO SIGNAL". I have tried using one ram module then two etc... Also did change them onto blue slots which gives me an error so I can again guess there is no problem with the ram if using it onto white slots. The power supply cables is as simple as Main Board and 8 Pin 12 v. Then the rest would be for other components. If not please correct me as I cannot find any more power connectors. I had PC rigs before ad it should show something before bios then stop when trying to boot from any drive if it cannot find any. Like Energy Star welcome screen where it reports hard drives and del option for Bios configuration. Mine is just dead a black screen. The monitor is working with my Mac and same card. Thanks for reading and I hope someone help me to figure out what is going on. Best. SticMAC™
Your Mac card is for use in a Mac only! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/192584-new-components-rig-problem/#findComment-1301420 Share on other sites
animani
Your Mac card is for use in a Mac only! Hey man you could make me the happiest man in the world if you were right. I thought that but I cannot find any info about it on the net. I do not know what LE version stands for. I also thought that any video card was compatible with any motherboard using the right drivers. I also realized the card is DVI-I and my Monitor has DVI-D but the card works on my Mac with the same monitor/Cable. Zaap
Relax, I'm pretty sure that SticMAC is right. 'Mac' video cards use a special EEPROM chip that allows Apple's hardware to identify and use the card. It's why most Macs with slots can't just use any non-flashed PC video card. Consequently, it's probably totally foreign to your i7 PC. If the PC posts, and you're just not getting the video signal, I'd just wait and try it with the video card you ordered. Thanks a lot for helping guys. I will take this for granted and wait till it arrive on Monday. I also checked if the CPU was warm after two minutes with the PC turned on and yes it was a little warm. Should motherboard give a lead number in case it was not recognized or faulty then after getting FF at the end I guess is not. Last thing is what you said guys so let's wait and see. Best. animani
Hey guys I just wanna thank you for chill me out about the problem in my rig. My new HD 4890 Vapor-X works fine. You were right and I have read that some of them work on PC but this one specially Geforce 6600 GT LE does not work if you are moving from Mac to PC. Hey thanks again....
