eshroom
I just installed SL on a G42M-ES2L. Got everything working, including sleep, ethernet and all the bits that usually cause trouble (well, they did cause trouble but I became adept at using the insanelymac search feature!). However, I am now presented with a problem I can't find an answer to... On-board graphics work, but are very very limited (iphoto can't even display pictures, only thumbnails), so in went the 9600GT, edited DSDT etc. all fine. Very happy except for one thing. Since the 9600GT went in whenever I log in for the first time, there's a flicker and the stock SL wallpaper shows up, if I log out (not restart) and log back in my wallpaper appears?! Any solution? Could I possible change what Apple sees as the stock wallpaper, as a temporary solution? (I'd rather find a full fix than do this) Thanks! Solved! If this happens to you, it is probably the monitor. I was using an old dell TFT, switched to a newer advent widescreen TFT and it works fine. If someone wants to add an explanation as to why this may have happened with the older monitor, I would be very interested to know! I'm just guessing here, but I think it might have to do with the "computer game problem", which I had had on my Asus P6T with a 9800GT, where basically any fullscreen game would just show a flat color, different depending on the game, but would play the audio, and the login screen would not have any fade transitions. Basically, the fix was to plug the monitor into the other port...
